Até o dia 29 de setembro, a Petrobras participa do Sustentável 2011 – 4º Congresso Internacional sobre Desenvolvimento Sustentável. Realizado no Rio de Janeiro, com o tema “Visão 2050: agenda para uma nova sociedade”, o evento será uma prévia da Rio +20.

In our small-group classes taught by university teaching professionals, students advance their speaking, presentation, accent, vocabulary, and writing skills with colleagues and friends who share similar interests.

We strive to have you use Brazilian Portuguese in as large a variety of real-life situations as possible. To that end, our Brazilian Portuguese courses have been designed to build fluency in both spoken and written language. Communication in a warm and relaxed environment is an important feature of our programs, as is homework, which includes exercises for review and practice of the material taught in class. Moreover, by keeping the class size limited to twelve students, we ensure that each student will be able to actively participate.

Queda dos juros e, em alguns casos, do juízo

Achei a decisão do Banco Central de diminuir os juros em 0,5 ponto percentual correta. Os juros futuros estavam caindo, a pressão das commodities sobre a inflação, diminuindo em razão da crise internacional, e a economia desacelerando. Não vejo nenhum problema especial quanto à da taxa de credibilidade do Banco Central. Quer dizer que um BC só ganha credibilidade, ou a mantém, quando promove o aumento dos juros?



Em relação à inflação, vale a pena lembrar que o efeito do aumento dos juros se dá menos por eventual aperto da demanda, que é pequeno, do que pela sobrevalorização do real, pois os juros em elevação estimulam ainda mais o afluxo de dólares que inunda nossa economia. A chave da estratégia brasileira de controle da inflação nos últimos anos tem sido a valorização do câmbio, não a contenção da demanda.



Não se deve também ignorar o impacto dos juros no gasto público: neste ano, se a taxa permanecer em 12%, o gasto com pagamento de juros será de R$ 226 bilhões, contra R$ 195 bilhões no ano passado. Nesse item, como proporção do PIB, gastamos mais do que o Japão, cuja dívida é quatro ou cinco vezes maior do que a brasileira.



Não vejo maior problema no fato do ministro da Fazenda e da presidente da República conversarem com o BC e expressarem seu pensamento. Isso acontece em todos os países do mundo. Alguém acha que nos Estados Unidos ou no Chile é muito diferente? Por um acaso um presidente ou ministro são cassados quando se trata de expressar a sua opinião sobre juros? Isso é uma tolice. Expressar uma posição não significa impor uma decisão tecnicamente injustificável.



A decisão de baixar os juros teve sentido técnico. Outra coisa, diferente, é acharem que não faz sentido em razão de expectativas (de que os juros não se alterariam) que foram contrariadas. Será que o BC deveria tomar uma decisão contra as evidências só para afirmar sua autonomia? Aliás, vejam bem, a redução dos juros é de 0,5 ponto percentual numa taxa que era de 12,5%, ou seja, vinte e cinco avos dessa taxa. Literalmente, trata-se de muito barulho por quase nada.



Por último, é claro que o anúncio do aumento do superávit primário em R$ 10 bilhões foi feito para acalmar o “mercado” em relação à diminuição dos juros, que já devia estar programada. Aquele aumento é perfumaria, até porque não provém de cortes, mas de aumento de receita, e é pequeno diante do aumento das despesas do governo com juros da dívida pública, que será de pelo menos R$ 30 bilhões neste ano em relação ao ano passado.

Last night President Obama walked Congress and the nation through the American Jobs Act, his plan to create jobs in America now. It's up to Congress to act on this set of bipartisan ideas that put people back to work and put more money into the pockets of working Americans.

Here are a few important points about how the American Jobs Act works, and why Congress should act quickly:

• First, it provides a tax cut for small businesses, not big corporations, to help them hire and expand now and provides an additional tax cut to any business that increases wages.
• Second, it puts people back to work, including teachers, first responders and veterans coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan, and construction workers repairing crumbling bridges, roads and more than 35,000 public schools, with projects chosen by need and impact, not earmarks and politics.
• Third, it helps out-of-work Americans by extending unemployment benefits to help them support their families while looking for work and reforming the system with training programs that build real skills, connect to real jobs and help the long-term unemployed.
• Fourth, it puts more money in the pockets of working and middle class Americans by cutting in half the payroll tax that comes out of every worker's paycheck, saving families an average of $1,500 a year. And it removes the barriers that exist in the current federal refinancing program (HARP) to help more Americans refinance their mortgages at historically low rates, save money and stay in their homes.

The American Jobs Act is based on ideas supported by both Democrats and Republicans, and is fully paid for by closing corporate tax loopholes and by asking the wealthiest Americans to pay their fair share. It would have an immediate impact on job and economic growth, but Congress has to act now.

Prefeitura realiza abertura do 40º Jogos da Primavera

A Prefeitura de Anápolis, por meio da Secretaria Municipal de Esportes e Lazer, promove nesta sexta-feira, 16, às 19h30, no Estádio Jonas Duarte, a cerimônia oficial de abertura dos Jogos da Primavera – Edição 2011. Durante o evento acontece o desfile de todas as agremiações inscritas nas diversas modalidades esportivas dos jogos.

Nos Jogos da Primavera 2011 irão participar 321 equipes nas modalidades coletivas e 240 nas individuais. Ao todo são 5.200 atletas, superando todos os números de edições anteriores.

O hasteamento das bandeiras da abertura oficial será acompanhado pela banda Lira de Prata de Santana. A rainha dos Jogos da Primavera 2011, Thays da Silva Dutra, aluna do Colégio Professor Heli Alves Ferreira, e as princesas Luana Faria Lima de Souza, do SESI/ Senai, e Thayane Alves de Paula, do Colégio Estadual Zeca Batista, também participam da solenidade.

Além de fortalecer o vínculo entre professores e alunos, a competição tem como objetivo valorizar o caráter educativo através do esporte, já que engloba estudantes anapolinos dos ensinos fundamental, médio e superior.

Nas categorias coletiva e individual, masculino e feminino, o torneio oferece as seguintes modalidades: judô, karatê, capoeira, natação, xadrez, atletismo, handebol, basquete, voleibol, futsal e tênis de mesa.
