Nesse último dia 23/08 o secretário geral da Organização Intergovernamental de Energia Renovável, Robson Mello e eu (Sula Costa), estivemos em reunião com o Secretário-Adjunto de Planejamento e Desenvolvimento Energético, Dr. Paulo Altaur, no Ministério de Minas e Energia para apresentação dos projetos do I.R.E.O no Brasil.
IREO JOINS THE UNITED NATIONS GLOBAL COMPACT FAMILY OF MEMBER PARTICIPANTS
IREO`s Secretary General with U.S.Secretary of State:

(IREO 19th May 2010, New York) In keeping up with its Mandate IREO`s Secretary-General
Mr. Robson Mello announced officially the acceptance of IREO as a member participant of the
United Nations Global Compact a strategic policy initiative of the Office of the Secretary
General of the United Nations for businesses, non businesses, civil society, academia and others
that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted
principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
The Secretary-General of IREO Mr. Robson Mello Stated: “This is an important steps in
IREO`s long journey ahead in working together in support of the UN System in accordance
with UN General Assembly Resolution 64/206 which calls for “Promotion of new and
renewable sources of energy”. I am confident that IREO`s Mandate to assist developing
countries in a SouthSouth system of cooperation will bring sound pilot projects into these
deprived regions of the world and a greener more affordable energy sources.
Basic Facts About IREO:
Founded in 2008,the Intergovernmental Renewable Energy Organization (IREO)aims to promote and
deliver sustainable renewable energy programs worldwide, ensuring a cleaner and more energy efficient
world.
It was created by the Brazilian Foundation of America, which holds consultative status to the United
Nations Economic and Social Council and supports the Millennium Development Goals.
IREO aims tomeet the environmental challenges posed by the development of human civilization by
implementing pilot projects to educate and promote the use of renewable energies around the world.
IREO’s vision is to build long term partnerships and support withcommunities,governments,the United
Nations Agencies,the private sector, NGOs, IGOs, academia and think tanks in order to bring
sustainability to communities while creating a better and cleaner world.
IREO is an intergovernmental organization formed through a Constituting Treaty by several Official
Member States of the United Nations that agreed to form a Collaborative Intergovernmental
CooperativeFreeAgreement with full autonomy.
The agreement seeks to promote the use of sustainable renewableenergy technologies via international
cooperation. IREO Adheres to the Directives Associated with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic
Relations1961.
IREO has de facto status within the UN and the USA. Its Multilateral Treaty was submitted for
registration under Article 102 of the United Nations Charter. IREO has submitted several petitions for
inclusion as an Intergovernmental Observer to the UN General Assembly and other bodies of the UN
System in 2010
IREO Works in support of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals and United Nations
General Assembly Resolution A 64/206:“Promotion of new and renewable sources of energy”.IREO is
an autonomous Intergovernmental Organisation that works to promoteto highlight the efforts of the
United Nations system for a better world and in particular, safeguarding the ideals and principles
embodied in theCharter of the United Nations to a wider audience and raise a world wide awareness
for the need oSafe, Affordable and Clean Renewable Energy to save current and future generations
from the scourge of the degradation of the Earth.
IREO's existence,by virtue of the constituting treaty, is validated by the signatory member states who
maintain oversight regarding the implementation of its mandate.
