Brazil's Samba Legend Beth Carvalho Dies at Rio de Janeiro Brazilian singer and know as "godmother of samba" Beth Carvalho died from sepsis in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday, (April 30th), her publicist and hospital said. She was 72 years old. In a career spanning 50 years, Carvalho was a symbol of the Brazilian samba school Mangueira, gained spotlight  like one of the most importants brazilians singers into the world.
