'The Children's Orchestra' tells the incredible true story of passionate 25 year-old conductor, Mozart Vieira, who forms a woodwind orchestra for children in a poor Northeastern region of Brazil. After winning over the local community, the orchestra enjoys national exposure and success even performing for the President in Brasília. Regional leaders become envious and attempt to manipulate Vieira who refuses to be controlled. After one of the orchestra members is kidnapped and beaten, Vieira is accused of pe dophilia and the orchestra is shut down. Artists including Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, and Chico Buarque under the leadership of Don Helder Câmara, rally to his cause. This inspiring and revealing film uncovers the dark and light of the human spirit.

Ironia

A ironia é um instrumento de literatura ou de retórica que consiste em dizer o contrário daquilo que se pensa, deixando entender uma distância intencional entre aquilo que dizemos e aquilo que realmente pensamos. Na Literatura, a ironia é a arte de gozar com alguém ou de alguma coisa, com vista a obter uma reacção do leitor, ouvinte ou interlocutor.
Ela pode ser utilizada, entre outras formas, com o objetivo de denunciar, de criticar ou de censurar algo. Para tal, o locutor descreve a realidade com termos aparentemente valorizantes, mas com a finalidade de desvalorizar. A ironia convida o leitor ou o ouvinte, a ser activo durante a leitura, para refletir sobre o tema e escolher uma determinada posição. O termo Ironia Socrática, levantado por Aristóteles, refere-se ao método socrático. Neste caso, não se trata de ironia no sentido moderno da palavra.
Tipos de ironia
A maior parte das teorias de retórica distingue três tipos de ironia: oral, dramática e de situação.
- A ironia oral é a disparidade entre a expressão e a intenção: quando um locutor diz uma coisa mas pretende expressar outra, ou então quando um significado literal é contrário para atingir o efeito desejado.
- A ironia dramática (ou sátira) é a disparidade entre a expressão e a compreensão/cognição: quando uma palavra ou uma ação põe uma questão em jogo e a plateia entende o significado da situação, mas a personagem não.
- A ironia de situação é a disparidade existente entre a intenção e o resultado: quando o resultado de uma ação é contrário ao desejo ou efeito esperado. Da mesma maneira, a ironia infinita (cosmic irony) é a disparidade entre o desejo humano e as duras realidades do mundo externo. Certas doutrinas afirmam que a ironia de situação e a ironia infinita, não são ironias de todo

É também um estilo de linguagem caracterizado por subverter o símbolo que, a princípio, representa. A ironia utiliza-se como uma forma de linguagem pré-estabelecida para, a partir e de dentro dela, contestá-la.
Foi utilizada por Sócrates, na Grécia Antiga, fazem como ferramenta para fazer os seus interlocutures entrarem em contradição, no seu método socrático.

WASHINGTON – Today, Press Secretary Jay Carney made the following statement on progress on Trade Adjustment Assistance for American workers and pending free trade agreements that will support tens of thousands of American jobs.
“President Obama has fought for an ambitious trade agenda that doubles exports in five years, levels the playing field for American workers, and reflects American values. As part of that agenda, he has fought for Trade Adjustment Assistance for those American workers who lose their jobs due to increased imports or outsourcing. As a result of extensive negotiations, we now have an agreement on the underlying terms for a meaningful renewal of a strengthened TAA. The President embraces these critical elements of TAA needed to ensure that workers have the best opportunity to get good jobs that keep them in the middle class. Now it is time to move forward with TAA and with the Korea, Colombia, and Panama trade agreements, which will support tens of thousands of jobs.”
