Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce elects
new President, Officers and Directors
Directors and members of the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. gathered together today at the Chamber's Annual Membership Luncheon, held at the University Club, in New York, to welcome the new President, Officers and Directors of the organization.
Theodore M. Helms, Executive Manager/Investor Relations of Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. - PETROBRAS, was elected President and Chairman of the Board, replacingJohn D. Landers, President of Delta National Bank and Trust Company, who chaired the organization the past four years.
Landers leaves the leadership of the Chamber handing his successor a sound organization, with over 400 corporate members ranging from Fortune 500 companies to smaller firms in a variety of industrial and service sectors and excellent results achieved during his tenure, with membership revenues increased by 40% and net reserves by 70% within the period.
Helms has been a very active member of the Chamber for over 13 years. He has been the Executive Manager of Investor Relations for Petróleo Brasileiro S.A.- Petrobras since August 2007, after a long and varied career in finance and investor relations in Latin America. He joined Petrobras in 1999 as the General Manager of its New York office. Since then, he has been involved in a wide range of finance-related activities to support the company´s growth.
Other Officers elected during the Annual Membership Luncheon were Bruno Boetger, Managing Director, North America at Bradesco S. A. (Vice President);Oswaldo Parré dos Santos, General Manager of Banco do Brasil (Treasurer); andJosé Luiz Godoy, President of Multiplas International, Inc. (Assistant Secretary).
Members of the Chamber present at the event also approved the appointment ofKaryn Koiffman, Partner at Baker & Mckenzie LLP, and Olga Trapp Monroy, Executive Vice President of McCann Worldgroup, to serve as Directors until 2014;Leigh Bass, Partner at Loeb, Block & Partners LLP, Patricia Gomes Soares Florissi, Vice President, CTO Americas of EMC Corporation, and John M. Moncure, Director, Latin America at the Financial Times, to serve as Directors until 2015; and René Boettcher, Chairman, Latin America at Bank of New York Mellon,Rodrigo Ortigão, Latin America Equities Sales at Brasil Plural Securities LLC, andJosé Luis Salinas, Regional Manager, Head of North America at Banco do Brasil, for the mandate ending in 2016.
According to the Chamber's tradition, Landers will continue to serve as Director, integrating the Executive Committee, which is composed of past presidents, elected officers, and members, with the mission of defining goals and policies of the Chamber.
Otoni visita mais quatro municípios goianos
O deputado federal Rubens Otoni visita nesta sexta-feira, 01, mais quatro municípios na região sudeste goiana por meio do projeto “Goiás de todos nós”. “Estamos andando todo o estado de Goiás, levando esse nosso projeto 'Goiás de todos nós', e incentivando toda a comunidade goiana a debater os assuntos, os problemas, os desafios que o estado tem pela frente, no objetivo de construir um plano de desenvolvimento econômico e social para Goiás" disse Otoni.
Os municípios que recebem o deputado nesta sexta-feira são Davinópolis, Ouvidor, Nova Aurora e Goiandira. Nessas cidades Rubens visitará vereadores, câmaras municipais e prefeituras com o objetivo de consolidar parcerias com representantes dos poderes Legislativo e Executivo municipais, visando à valorização das lideranças locais e sua integração numa corrente de desenvolvimento para o Estado, independente de cor partidária.
