National Democratic Redistricting Committee
With the nation in the midst of a public health crisis and the election just months away, many Republicans governors are showing their true colors.

In New Hampshire, Governor Chris Sununu vetoed a bill that would make it easier to register to vote and get an absentee ballot. That's on top of his veto of a bipartisan bill to create an independent redistricting commission in 2019 (a bill that may land on his desk again in 2020)!

In Georgia, allies of Governor Brian Kemp are preparing to send him a bill that would prohibit election officials from sending every voter an absentee ballot. Kemp is notorious for suppressing the vote when he served as Georgia's secretary of state; it helped him win his gubernatorial election against Stacey Abrams.

The good news is that New Hampshire and Georgia are both 2020 NDRC target states and with your help we can give both of these governors a massive setback. Chip in to help us win in all of our targets!

The last stop on this tour of villainous governors is Texas, where Greg Abbott is now governor -- the same man who prosecuted Democrats who helped seniors vote by mail when he was attorney general. Now Texas' new attorney general, Ken Paxton, is threatening to do the same thing in the middle of the pandemic when we need vote-by-mail most.

Look, Sula, it won't be easy to win in these states and our seven other 2020 targets, which is why we need your help. Will you pitch in to help us fight back against these GOP governors and ensure fair elections and fair maps?

Chip in to help the NDRC fight back

Did you see this breaking news? Trump is launching yet another attack on the 2020 Census.

Let’s be clear: This is a political power grab. Excluding people from apportionment -- the process by which congressional districts are allocated among the states and through which critical federal funding is distributed for a decade -- means giving disproportionate political power to Trump’s political allies. To put a finer point on it, Trump is threatening to give more power to white and Republican communities while taking it away from immigrant communities and communities of color. This is an unconstitutional scare tactic and we can’t let it stand.

Trump was forced to back down on his attempt to add a citizenship question to the 2020 Census, and we can beat him again on this. Will you chip in today to help the NDRC fight back and demand a fair 2020 Census in which EVERYONE is counted?

President Obama and A.G. Holder are fighting for fair elections and fair maps:

A.G. Holder: To end voter suppression for good, we must elect legislators who will draw fair maps in 2021. And that means we have to fight now to protect the 2020 election.
President Obama: We need to break down structural barriers and support initiatives like voting-by-mail, online voter registration, and expanded early voting.
But Trump is digging in to suppress the vote after saying mail-in voting is

All On The Line
- We talk a lot about holding state legislators accountable during the redistricting process. But in some states, thanks to independent redistricting commissions, the power to draw electoral maps will be directly in the hands of people just like you.

Citizen-led redistricting commissions aim to take map manipulation out of the equation. This might seem like an easy solution to gerrymandering -- but serving on a commission is a huge civic responsibility.

Right now, folks in states like Arizona and Wisconsin are applying to join their state's redistricting commission. And the All On The Line team is running a series of state-specific workshops to help people navigate that process and be prepared to serve if they're chosen.

I'm asking you to chip in to All On The Line's Commission Education Fund so that this essential work can continue. Will you make a donation today?

This work is especially critical in states like Colorado, Michigan, and Wisconsin where 2021 will be the first time that citizen-led commissions are involved in the redistricting process.

The fight to end gerrymandering doesn't end with establishing redistricting commissions. We still need to empower the people serving on these commissions to be strong advocates for fair representation. And we must protect the commissions from politicians who are determined to attack and interfere with redistricting reform just to hold onto their own jobs.

The maps drawn next year will determine the political landscape for the next decade. Can I count on you to help prepare your fellow citizens for the task?

-- Barack Obama

All On The Line
Sula -- Mitch McConnell and his Senate enablers continue to hold up commonsense voting empowerment legislation just four months before the upcoming election.

It's been more than two months since the House passed the HEROES Act, which included $3.6 billion in funding to secure our elections before November. Now, the Senate is finally expected to release their relief bill next week -- and it is rumored to include ZERO funding for election reforms.

We have less than four months to protect our elections. In the past few weeks, thousands of AOTL supporters told McConnell to stop his political gamesmanship -- and we must keep his feet to the fire.

Can we count on you to fuel our Election Protection Advocacy Fund? It provides funding for tools so our supporters can hold partisan politicians like McConnell accountable.

A.G. Holder believes McConnell "has done a whole bunch of unpatriotic things, has really been a force for polarization in this nation... History will not be kind to him." Unfortunately, he's right.

There's no sensible reason why Mitch McConnell won't fully fund legislation to protect our elections. But it's no surprise since he also refuses to pass HR1, another commonsense bill that would expand voting rights and limit partisan gerrymandering.

McConnell's political playbook is clear: suppress the vote this year because it's the first step to putting his party in charge of the redistricting process in 2021.

If we want to restore fair representation to folks in gerrymandered states and make politicians accountable to their constituents in 2021, we must first secure our elections this year by passing commonsense election protections. We need to reach in the toolbox and use every tool available to force McConnell to act now.

Change can't wait! Donate to our Election Protection Advocacy Fund and help us ramp up our resources to make Mitch pass election protections.
