IREO Signs Joint Venture to Develop 3,000 acre Sustainable Agricultural Community in Haiti IREO and Garnier Ltd. have signed a joint venture for the New Régénérer Haiti Project, which will develop 3,000 acres of land on the Central Plateau of Haiti near the city of Hinche. The land will be allocated 80% for commercial organic agricultural and 20% for mixed-use development (housing, businesses, schools, heath clinics, etc.) The agriculture production will provide a major local food source as well an essential step towards developing a sustainable local economy. Additionally, the project will address various infrastructure and energy needs through sustainable and renewable means.

IREO Develops Waste-to-Energy Power Plants in Latin America IREO is supporting the Renewable Energy Management Group (REMG), Terra Energy Solutions, Renovatec, and ISOCRET do Brasil Ltda to construct a series of advanced state of the art 11MW waste-to-energy power plants in Latin America, with the first being in Brazil. These waste-to-energy plants will addresses municipal, industrial, and medical disposal problems at a rate of 50 to 1000 tones/day, while producing carbon neutral, renewable energy, and recycled products.

Rubens Otoni recebe prêmio Planeta Água de Consciência Ecológica

O deputado federal Rubens Otoni (PT) recebeu na última quinta-feira, 22, o Prêmio Planeta Água de Consciência Ecológica realizado pela revista Planeta Água. Desde 2008 a revista organiza o evento em função do Dia Mundial da Água, comemorado no dia 22 de março. A solenidade aconteceu no Stillus Hall em Anápolis.

Esta é o terceiro ano consecutivo que o deputado recebe o prêmio. A iniciativa tem como objetivo reconhecer e valorizar o trabalho de pessoas e instituições que praticam ações em favor do meio ambiente.

Rubens disse que se sente privilegiado por receber a honraria mais uma vez. "A sustentabilidade é uma das metas do nosso mandato popular, por isso, ser homenegeado com o Prêmio Planeta Água é extremamente significativo, pois é sinal de reconhecimento do nosso trabalho", comemorou o parlamentar.


O compositor e cantor, Guilherme Arantes, animou a noite do evento. Guilherme é o fundador e presidente do Instituto Planeta Água de Pesquisas Ambientais e Educacionais. Secretary-General attends Nuclear Security Summit UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is meeting with world leaders on the sidelines of a two-day nuclear security summit in South Korea. More than 50 heads of state and international organizations are in Seoul to address measures to combat the threat of nuclear terrorism, as well as protecting nuclear materials and related facilities, among other matters. Eduardo del Buey is a spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General. "The other issue that's of great concern to the international community of course is a plan by the DPRK to launch a satellite using ballistic missile technology which is banned by the Security Council, so all of these issues will be very important. The Secretary-General will be playing a central role at that conference."  Mr. Ban has repeated his call for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to fully comply with Security Council resolutions. North Korea recently announced it will launch a so-called "application satellite" in April to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of its founder, Kim Il-sung. Marconi e Edison Lobão voltam a discutir Celg A busca de uma solução para o saneamento financeiro da Celg pôs ontem frente a frente o governador Marconi Perillo  e o ministro de Minas e Energia, Edison Lobão, em Brasília. O encontro durou cerca de duas horas e envolveu a  participação do presidente da Celg e vice-governador, José Eliton Júnior, técnicos da empresa e da Secretaria da  Fazenda, além de diretores da Eletrobrás, todo o corpo técnico do Ministério de Minas e Energia, do secretário do  Tesouro Nacional, Arno Augustin, e do presidente da Aneel, Nelson Hübner. Depois de fazer uma ampla explanação sobre as medidas saneadoras que foram adotadas na empresa desde janeiro  deste ano, o governador Marconi Perillo informou ao ministro que o Estado concorda em assinar com o governo  federal um contrato de empréstimo nos termos que foram pactuados no ano passado. As diferenças estariam no  valor e na legitimidade do atual governo para tomar o empréstimo. Segundo o governador, caso o governo federal  acatasse a medida, o Estado concordaria em renegociar a dívida de ICMS que a Celg tem com o Estado,  o que impactaria no valor total da dívida da estatal. Boa vontade  O ministro, ainda segundo Marconi, recebeu positivamente os números relativos à atual gestão da Celg,  principalmente no que diz respeito à diminuição dos custos da empresa através do pagamento de dívidas  e corte de gastos. “O ministro foi claro conosco. Disse que o governo federal tem todo o interesse em buscar  uma solução definitiva para o problema da Celg. Essa solução passa por um empréstimo ao Estado”,  declarou o governador. Marconi considera que a presença do presidente do Tesouro Nacional (segunda autoridade financeira do governo  federal) no encontro sinaliza a boa vontade da presidente Dilma Rousseff em resolver a questão.  “Ele falou em nome do ministro da Fazenda e da presidente Dilma. Sentimos grande disposição da presidente  em nos ajudar nesta questão”, salientou. Já com números consolidados e um balanço detalhado das medidas saneadoras adotadas nos últimos dez  meses pela direção da Celg, técnicos da estatal e da Eletrobrás voltarão a se reunir no dia 24 deste mês para  dar sequência às negociações. Sem entrar em detalhes sobre o controle da empresa, o governador disse que  nesta reunião poderá ser discutida a composição acionária da Celg com a Eletrobrás. “Queremos agregar valor  entre Celg e Eletrobrás. Não temos nenhum problema em compartilhar a gestão da empresa, desde que os  interesses do povo goiano sejam preservados”, destacou Marconi.
