The Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Fundação Amazônia Sustentável (FAS), will be joined by Professor Virgilio Viana – one of Brazil’s leading experts on forestry, the environment, and sustainable development – to take the spotlight on the Amazon and bring it to the center of the world’s environmental and climate debate.
The conversation will bring into perspective negotiations and opportunities for development and preservation of the forest, drawing upon environmental policies and measures deliberated by leaders from eight Amazon nations at Brazil’s Amazon Summit. The discussion will anticipate COP28, the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, which will unite governments, companies, NGOs, and other civil society organizations in Dubai to discuss the urgency of establishing clear and objective strategies for the preservation of the Amazon and its socio-biodiversity.
