Good afternoon --

Earlier this week, it looked like Congress would go home for the holidays without preventing a tax increase that would mean millions of American families would have about $40 less in each paycheck.

But then something pretty incredible happened.

It began when we asked everyone to show us how that missing $40 would affect them and their families. In a matter of hours thousands of vivid, powerful stories from Americans of all ages, all backgrounds, from every corner across the country were pouring in. For some, $40 means dinner out with a child who's home for the holidays. For others it means a tank of gas or a charitable donation. In just two days, tens of thousands of Americans were making their voices heard.

You spoke up. Your voices made all the difference.

Thanks to you, Congress reached an agreement to extend the payroll tax cut.  On top of that, vital unemployment insurance will continue for millions of Americans who are looking for work.

Yesterday I had the chance to meet a few of the folks who took to the web to make this happen.

We aren't done fighting for the middle class. When Congress returns, they need to keep working to reach an agreement that will extend this tax cut and unemployment insurance for all of 2012 -- without drama or delay.

That's just the beginning of our work ahead in the new year to put more Americans back to work, restore middle-class security, and ensure that folks who work hard and play by the rules get a fair shot.

More than ever I'm confident that, together, those are goals we can achieve.

We've been fighting for months to make sure taxes on the middle class don't go up on January 1st.

This weekend, Democrats and Republicans in the Senate came together, compromised, and took a giant step to avoid just that. In fact, 89 senators approved an extension of the payroll tax cut. And 39 of them were Republicans, including GOP Senate Leader Mitch McConnell.

But now, a faction of Republicans in the House refuses to even vote on that compromise. And they're on the brink of allowing taxes to go up on 160 million Americans.

Here's part of the problem: A lot of people in Washington don't understand what these tax cuts mean. A typical family gets about $40 with each paycheck from this tax cut, and opponents look at that and argue it doesn't have an impact.

Just today, one House Republican referred to this debate as "high-stakes poker." He’s right about the high-stakes, but he's dead wrong about the poker. This is not a game.

We know better -- $40 has tangible benefits for millions of families. Can you help us prove that point?

Over the next few days, a small group of American soldiers will begin the final march out of Iraq. This moment of success is because of their sacrifice. More than 1.5 million Americans have served in Iraq. More than 30,000 of these brave men and women were wounded. Nearly 4,500 gave their lives. America’s military families have borne a heavy burden. As we mark the end of this war, we need to show our veterans and their families that they have the thanks of a grateful nation. Part of ending a war responsibly is standing by those who have fought it. It's not enough to honor our heroes with words; we must do so with deeds. A Prefeitura de Anápolis, através da Secretaria Municipal de Esportes, realiza a 1ª Copa Goiás de Basquetebol em Cadeiras de Rodas. Os jogos acontecem nos dias 17 e 18 de dezembro, no Ginásio Carlos de Pina.

Sete equipes foram convocadas, representando as seguintes cidades: Niquelândia, Catalão, Rio Verde, Aparecida de Goiânia, Senador Canedo, Anápolis e Goiânia. A competição classifica duas equipes do estado para Copa Brasil 2012 nos meses de maio ou junho, que deve ser realizada em Anápolis ou Goiânia.

No dia 17, das 9 às 12 horas, será promovida uma clínica para paratécnicos, profissionais, acadêmicos de Educação Física e atletas, ministrada pelo professor Gilson Ramos (Doinha). O evento é gratuito e terá certificado. Das 13 às 20 horas, serão realizadas as eliminatórias. As finais dos jogos acontecem no domingo, 18, das 9 às 15 horas.

Participam desta Copa as seguintes equipes:

- Asdeniq – Niquelândia;

- Aspedec – Catalão;

- Adevirv – Rio Verde;

- Adap – Aparecida de Goiânia;

- Adesc – Senador Canedo;

- ADA – Anápolis;

- Adfego – Goiânia.

A competição classifica duas equipes do estado para Copa Brasil 2012 nos meses de maio ou junho, a mesma deverá ser realizada em Anápolis ou Goiânia.

Os jogos acontecem no Ginásio Carlos de Pina com as seguintes datas:

16  dezembro – sexta-feira-  Chegada das Delegações que ficarão alojadas no Ginásio Internacional Newton de Faria;

17  dezembro – sábado – 09:00 às 12:00 horas no Ginásio Carlos de Pina, acontecerá a Clinica para paratécnicos , Profissionais e Acadêmicos de Educação Física, atletas e demais interessados. É gratuita e terá certificado. A mesma será ministrada pelo Professor Gilson Ramos “Doinha”.

13:00 às 20:00 horas – Acontecerão  os jogos

18 dezembro – 09:00 às 15:00 – finais dos Jogos

Logos após o término dos jogos acontecerá à premiação dos três primeiros colocados da temporada 2011.

Raising my pressure & stressing me out. Then Patrice O'Neal came along and did the opposite. He would always pay the rent and bills on time but he would also curse me out. I didn't understand it but for once I was getting the rent and bills paid on time and I was not the one doing the cursing but getting cursed at. I loved it! If Patrice didn't curse you out then he didn't like you. One day I said "Patrice, why you curse & trashed everyone but that one dude over there?" Patrice said "cause I don't like him. He doesn't deserve my verbal abuse!" He squash all my stereo-types that I had of overweight people... He was clean, good hygiene, wasn't lazy, didn't leave snacks around the house, and didn't have a hard time getting women. Yet along the years I learned there are a lot of things I can say about Patrice O'Neal. Like when he first moved in and we became roommates, I caught him trying to sneak a girl who wasn't to appealing to the eye, out the apartment. Patrice is Thoughtful When Patrice was trying to find himself, many comedy clubs ban him because he would not stop his outrageous rants. Then a few years later those same clubs begged him to come back. Patrice is a Renegade Leader Many days and nights Patrice would have me laughing uncontrollably and I felt very bless because the world would have his comedy only for about an hour and I had it 24/7. Patrice is Amazingly Funny I can call Patrice about anything and he'd always have an answer. If Google had a customer service that you can call, it'd be Patrice. Patrice is Incredibly Smart When people couldn't understand what I was saying because of my speech impediment, Patrice would chime in and and say "I can translate cause I speak fluent Wil" Patrice is Bi-Lingual Patrice would spend thousands of dollars to buy food for 4th of July & Thanks Giving, cook it all, and invite all his friends & family over. Then curse everyone in the house out. Patrice is Love Yet on November 29, 2011 one thing I thought I would never say is Patrice is dead :( But 2 things I will never stop saying is Patrice is my Best Friend And I say "is" and not "was" cause Patrice O'Neal LIVES ON for ever!
