A vida te oferece amigos e pessoas venenosas...

Mostre-me um homem que não se importa em realizar coisas pequenas e eu lhe , mostrarei um homem a que não se pode confiar grandes realizações;

2011 Year of the Forests

FOREST11 - AMAZON - Live Aid Concert for the Rain Forest

IREO and the Amazon Institute support the United Nations General Assembly declaration for 2011 as the International Year of Forests

We are coming up to another year that so far promises to be a great green year.

The United Nations General Assembly declared 2011 as the International Year of Forests to raise awareness on sustainable management, conservation and sustainable development for all types of forests. In resolution 61/193, the General Assembly requested the secretariat of the United Nations Forum on Forests of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the Secretariat to serve as the focal point for the implementation of the Year, in collaboration with Governments, the Collaborative Partnership on Forests and international, regional and sub regional organizations and processes as well as relevant major groups. It also encourages voluntary partnerships among Member States, international organizations and major groups to facilitate and promote activities related to the year at the local and national levels, including by creating national committees or designating focal points in their respective countries. The United Nations Forum of Forest Secretariat will be hosting its Ninth session from January 24 – February 4 2011, making 2011 the Official Year of the Forest.

The Amazon Rain Forest

The Amazon Basin is the home to our largest rainforest on Earth. It represents over half of the planets remaining rainforests. The basin is roughly the size of the forty-eight contiguous United States. It covers some 40% of the South American continent, which encompasses seven million square kilometers (1.7 billion acres), though the forest itself occupies some 5.5 million square kilometers (1.4 billion acres), located within nine nations: Brazil (with 60 percent of the rainforest), Peru (with 13 percent of the rainforest, second after Brazil), Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana. The Amazon represents over half of the planet's remaining rain forest and comprises the largest and most species-rich tract of tropical rainforest in the world.

By focusing the attention on the Amazon, a meaningful impact can be achieved by reversing the destruction that we are now witnessing. Hundreds of organizations are doing vital work, which addresses virtually every level of the problem. Yet, our rainforests continue to fall by some estimates at the rate of 10 million trees per day. Despite our best efforts, the disappearance of our tropical rainforests, like many other global economic, social and environmental crises, seems to lie beyond our ability to control.

Casos reais...

E o outro responde:
- Não se preocupe, estamos os dois aqui."

Conhece a história do Huguinho, Zezinho e Luizinho????

- Vamos tomar alguma coisa?
O outro arregala os olhos empolgado e responde:
- Vamos!!! De quem????
