The Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Gerando Falcões as the recipient of the 2023 Community Impact Award.The award recognizes the organization’s dedication to community service, promoting the betterment of society at large.

Founded in 2011 by Edu Lyra, Gerando Falcões is a social development ecosystem dedicated to interrupting poverty and transforming Brazil's favelas into dignified and sustainable communities through education, social and economic development, and citizenship services.

Gerando Falcões upholds its mission through programs such as Favela 3D, which focuses on eradicating poverty through dignified housing, access to healthcare, education, citizenship, peace, early childhood development, income generation, and sports and leisure. Another program, Bazaar, offers low-income community members access to discounted consumer goods, with proceeds reinvested in the transformation of the favelas. Falcons University, the educational arm of Gerando Falcões, employs technology to develop children, young people, educators, and social leaders, building an equipped and empowered leadership ecosystem in Brazil.

With 270 partners and a network of 1,300 social leaders, Gerando Falcões has reached over 700,000 people across 6,500 favelas, covering 26 Brazilian states and almost 50% of Brazil’s favela territories.

The Community Impact Award will be presented to Gerando Falcões at the 2023 Person of the Year Awards Gala Dinner on May 10th at The Glasshouse. Almost 1,000 leaders from the international business, financial, and diplomatic communities will convene in New York City for this traditional annual gala.

The New Brazilian Transfer Pricing Legislation vs. OECD Guidelines: Challenges and Perspectives

In December 2022, the Brazilian government published Provisional Measure No. 1152 (MP 1152), introducing changes to Corporate Income Tax and Social Contribution Tax on Profit and providing new transfer pricing rules. The proposal aims to align Brazil’s rules with international standards and is another step toward the country’s accession to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)

About IZABELLA BICALHO

With a career spanning more than 40 years, actress Izabella Bicalho, nominated for best actress by the Shell, APTR, Cesgranrio, Contigo and Bibi Ferreira awards, has stood out in the last decade on the scene of the great musicals of Brazilian theater. Among them, he produced and starred in the musical ‘Gota D’água’, directed by João Fonseca. He starred in successful productions such as: ‘Tim Maia – the Musical’, ‘Bilac Vê Estrelas’, ‘O Beijo no Asfalto – the Musical’, ‘Era no Tempo do Rei’ and ‘Sambra – 100 Anos de Samba’. It was also directed by Miguel Falabella in 'South American Way' and 'Império', and by Ney Matogrosso in the exciting musical 'Somos Irmãs'. Her last musical was 'I Want to See Her Smile!', where she shone, playing the mother of the honored Sidney Magal.

 

In 2016, he was in the cast of ON LINE, a show by Paulo Gustavo, later the musical in honor of one of the greatest Brazilian singers, Elizeth Cardoso, the musical 'Elizeth A Divina', in which he signed the text of the work, earning him the FITA Award for Best actress. Followed by 'Cássia Eller - The Musical' directed by João Fonseca and 'Issues love: the Musical', directed by Ulysses Cruz.
