Brazil Will Militarize Some Airports And Ports To Combat The Organized Crime President of Brazil, Luis Inácio Lula da Silva, announced this Wednesday (1st) an operation with the participation of military personnel in some ports and airports to combat organized crime.
The decree authorizes a Law and Order Guarantee (GLO) operation of the Armed Forces, starting on Monday (6). The goal is to help Rio de Janeiro combat a public security crisis. The Decree will remain in force until May 2024.
Navy ships will monitor the ports of Itaguaí, Rio de Janeiro, and Santos, in São Paulo. There will be an increase in personnel in Guanabara Bay, Sepetiba Bay and maritime access to the Port of Santos.
Air Force teams will help control Galeão airport, in Rio, and Guarulhos, in São Paulo. Soldiers will reinforce border surveillance in Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and Paraná. |

New European Travel Requirement Postponed Again to 2025 
A new requirement for travelers going to Europe, scheduled to go into effect next year, has been delayed – again – to 2025.
The requirement – an online travel authorization through the European Travel Information and Authorization System, or ETIAS – applies to visitors from 30 European countries, including popular destinations such as France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Portugal, and Spain.
Travelers, including Americans and Brazilians, will not be able to visit these countries without this authorization.
What is ETIAS?
ETIAS is an electronic travel authorization system that is similar to the US Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) program. It is designed to enhance security and facilitate smoother entry for travelers to Europe.
Who needs an ETIAS authorization?
ETIAS authorization is required for citizens of all visa-exempt countries who plan to travel to any of the following European countries for short-term stays (up to 90 days within any 180-day period):

Brazil: The Best Destination For Ecotourism, According to Forbes  Forbes Advisor has carried out research to create an Index of the 50 best countries for ecotourism. Scoring is based on factors such as the number of animal and plant species found in a country, the number of species per 10 km2, the percentage of the country’s landmass that is protected, and the number of UNESCO Natural Heritage Sites it has.
With a score of 94.9 out of 100, Brazil is listed in the top position. Mexico, Australia, Ecuador, and Costa Rica, respectively, follows Brazil in the first five positions.
According to the Magazine, “Brazil is the most biodiverse country of all the destinations, with over 43,000 various animal species, and plants. This is despite large-scale deforestation of the Amazon.
Around 30% of Brazil’s landmass is currently protected. This includes eight UNESCO Natural World Heritage Sites, one of which is the Central Amazon Conservation complex, which protects threatened species such as the Amazonian manatee and the black caiman.

Israel Bombardeia Campo De Refugiados Em Gaza  Os militares de Israel aumentaram nos últimos dias o bombardeio aéreo contra a Faixa de Gaza, incluindo ataques direcionados a alguns dos campos de refugiados densamente povoados da região.
Inicialmente estabelecidos em 1948 para abrigar palestinianos que fugiram ou foram forçados a abandonar as suas casas durante a Guerra Árabe-Israelense, os campos abrigam hoje muitos dos 1,7 milhões de refugiados registados em Gaza, segundo as Nações Unidas. Mesmo antes da guerra, os campos já estavam cheios, empobrecidos e careciam de infraestrutura básicas.
Na terça-feira (31), ataques aéreos israelenses atingiram o campo de refugiados de Jabalya, no norte da Faixa de Gaza. Mais de 100 pessoas morreram e centenas ficaram feridas, segundo o diretor de um hospital local. O ataque foi condenado por organizações humanitárias e diplomatas.

Ancient Rock Carving Found In The Amazon River Photo: Valter Calheiros A severe drought in the Amazon River exposed ancient rock carvings that had been submerged for centuries. The carvings, which depict human faces and other figures, are estimated to be between 1,000 and 2,000 years old.
The carvings were discovered at a site known as Ponto das Lajes on the Rio Negro, a major tributary of the Amazon. The site is believed to have been a pre-Columbian ceremonial center, and the carvings may have played a role in religious rituals.
In addition to the human faces, the carvings also depict other figures, such as animals and natural forms. This suggests that the indigenous people who created the carvings had a deep connection to the natural world. |

Quem Precisa Ser Testado Para Câncer De Pulmão?  Quase 5 milhões de pessoas a mais entraram no grupo que deve testado para câncer de pulmão, de acordo com a diretriz atualizada da American Cancer Society. A expansão da recomendação visa incluir adultos mais velhos que fumam ou já fumaram – independentemente de há quanto tempo pararam de fumar.
Anteriormente, a American Cancer Society recomendava o rastreio anual do câncer de pulmão para adultos com idades entre os 55 e os 74 anos, com história de tabagismo de pelo menos 30 maços/ano, que fumam atualmente ou que deixaram de fumar há menos de 15 anos. Agora, a organização determinou que não importa há quanto tempo a pessoa parou de fumar.
A recomendação é de exames anuais de câncer de pulmão para fumantes atuais ou que já pararam, com idades entre 50 e 80 anos, com histórico de tabagismo de pelo menos 20 maços/ano. Por exemplo, alguém que fumou dois maços por dia durante 10 anos tem um histórico de 20 maços/ano, assim como alguém que fumou um maço por dia durante 20 anos.
A American Cancer Society estima que a recomendação atualizada levará à prevenção de 21% mais mortes por câncer de pulmão em comparação com as recomendações atuais. |
