Cora Coralina’s Grandson celebrates award promoted by the Sciences, Letters and Arts from Brazil Academy.
On July 28th, the Sciences, Letters and Arts ftom Brazil Academy promoted the laureate Cora
Coralina, in honor of the renowned Brazilian poet. The event took place at Teatro Prefeito Virginio
Ometto and was
attended by several personalities from culture and the arts.
One of the most moving
moments of the ceremony was the tribute to Vicencia Bretas Tahan, who received
honors on Cora Coralina1s behalf. The poetess, who died in 1985, left an
immense legacy for Brazilian literature, with her simple yet profound poetry.
Representing his mother,
Rubio Tahan, Vicencia Bretas Tahan’ son, received the honors and highlighted
the privilege of being Cora Coralina's grandson. In his speech, he highlighted
the importance of the poet for Brazilian culture and how she was a woman ahead
of her time, fighting for her ideals and for valuing the country's culture.
Cora Coralina's grandson also spoke about the importance of preserving his grandmother's memory and continuing to publicize her work, so that future generations can learn about and be inspired by the poetry and life of one of the greatest Brazilian poets of all time.
The laurea Cora Coralina
was a moment of celebration of Brazilian culture and the memory of one of the
country's greatest poets. The tribute to Vicencia Bretas Tahan, representing
Cora Coralina, was an emotional moment of recognition for the legacy left by
this great woman.
