“COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic poses big challenges for political campaigns”
-- Wisconsin State Journal

An Arkansas ballot campaign “that would’ve established a citizen’s redistricting commission folded signature gathering efforts in mid-March”
-- WAMU

Sula,

The 2020 elections have been turned upside down in the past few weeks. Democratic organizations and political campaigns are having to meet this moment by shifting their tactics as door-to-door canvassing and in-person events become impossible. But electing the right leaders in 2020 is more important than ever.

We have to adapt to the new reality -- and we are. The NDRC is moving much of our on-the-ground work online and helping campaigns in our target states do the same. In Wisconsin, we just invested $150,000 in efforts to reach voters through digital communication, like messages that urge them to request absentee ballots so they can vote at home. But if we want to elect the fair-map Democrats this country needs, we’re going to have to be more creative, more agile, and more resourceful than ever before.

2020 was already going to be a challenging election year, and now our Democratic candidates will have to work even harder to reach voters. Thanks to folks like you we’ve already been able to support campaigns in four critical states -- but there’s still a long way to go and a LOT to do.

Will you give to the NDRC Digital Team to help us meet this unprecedented challenge by building out our online organizing strategy?

Thanks,
Team NDRC

Want to know how the state of voting rights in America got so bad? 2006: Congress and President Bush renew the Voting Rights Act with overwhelming bipartisan support. --- 2008: Democrats win control of the White House and Congress. --- 2010 & 2011: Thanks to the REDMAP project, Republicans win state legislatures and gerrymander across the country. --- 2013: The Supreme Court strikes down a central provision of the Voting Rights Act that required federal approval of many anti-voting measures. --- 2013 & on: Gerrymandered Republican state legislatures pass voter suppression laws in states like North Carolina, Texas, and Wisconsin, and Republicans who won gerrymandered seats in Congress do nothing to reinstate the VRA. --- 2020: Polling stations closed, voters waiting in line for hours, people purged from the voter rolls, voter registration errors criminalized in states across the country. --- Where will we go next? That's up to you. Pitch in to end voter suppression >>>
