which has established itself as one of the most influential forms of cultural,
social, and political expression in Brazil.
The exhibition, curated by
Clarissa Diniz and Ismael Monticelli, with the collaboration of the Instagram
account @newmemeseum, highlights Brazil as one of the largest producers and
consumers of memes in the world, and is also a pioneer in a large-scale exhibition
dedicated to this phenomenon. The project offers an immersion in contemporary
art, digital culture, and social critique, exploring memefication as a tool for
narrating contemporary Brazil with humor, irony, and reflection.
The curation breaks down
boundaries between different languages, bringing together renowned names in
Brazilian art, such as Anna Maria Maiolino, Gretta Sarfaty, Nelson Leirner, and
Claudio Tozzi, alongside popular content creators, including Porta dos Fundos,
Melted Vídeos, John Drops, Greengo Dictionary, and Alessandra Araújo. Thus, the
exhibition highlights the importance of memes as an artistic expression and
instrument of social critique, reflecting the diverse voices that make up the
Brazilian cultural scene.

and supported by the Rouanet Law, the exhibition promises a unique experience
for the public, who will be able to explore creativity, humor, and social
issues through accessible and contemporary language. After its run in São
Paulo, the exhibition will travel to Brasília, Belo Horizonte, and Rio de
Janeiro, reaffirming its national relevance.
