A.C.L.A.B. Oscar Celebrates Brazilian Cinema in the Interior of São Paulo with a Tribute to Small Productions and Highlight for Director Rui Matteo Filho.
On October 11, 2025, the Virginio Ometto Theater in Iracemápolis hosted a memorable night for Brazilian cinema. The A.C.L.A.B (Brazilian Academy of Sciences, Letters, and Arts), under the leadership of Archduke Baron Ednei Pereira, hosted an elegant ceremony modeled after the traditional Oscars, aimed at recognizing and appreciating Brazilian film productions, especially those emerging strongly from the interior of São Paulo.
Supported by the World Art Show Brazil Association, the event celebrated not only established talent but also the new creative momentum transforming the audiovisual landscape outside of major cities. The highlight of the evening was the work of director, screenwriter, and actor Rui Matteo Filho, whose name has established itself as one of the leading voices in independent cinema in the region.
A native of Rio Claro and currently residing in Paulínia, Rui Matteo Filho has a solid and multifaceted career in the audiovisual industry. With a degree in Visual Communication and Directing, he has worked on major television productions for Globo, Record, Disney, and HBO Brasil. His work on films such as "Corações Entlaçados," "O Anjo Torto," and "A Caixa de Jóias" was widely celebrated during the ceremony.
The director has also been recognized for his work on original projects in the interior of São Paulo, especially in cities such as Campinas, Paulínia, and Iracemápolis. Independent productions he led were honored for their ability to move, innovate, and authentically portray everyday life and human dramas with a regional yet universal perspective.
The ceremony featured cultural presentations, special tributes, screenings of excerpts from the award-winning films, and emotional speeches that reinforced the importance of promoting local culture. For many in attendance, the event represented more than just an award ceremony—it was a symbol of artistic resilience and the affirmation of Brazilian cinematic identity.
By the end of the evening, the message was clear: the interior of São Paulo is experiencing a new era in cinema, with talents that deserve national and international exposure. And names like Rui Matteo Filho are proof that, with passion, technique and persistence, it is possible to transform realities through art.

 | | Friend, I just donated to support California’s Proposition 50, and I hope you’ll join me. Republicans redrew district lines in Texas at the request of President Trump to give the GOP five additional House seats. | It's clear Trump and his cronies are willing to do anything to keep their House and Senate majorities in 2026 – even if it means disenfranchising voters. | Now, we need to fight fire with fire, which is exactly what Democrats in states like California are doing with a one-time, temporary redistricting proposition that will nullify seats Republicans gerrymandered in Texas. | Trump has left us no choice but to confront this fight head on. That's why I made a donation to support California's new proposition – and why I'm asking you to join me, friend. | So please, will you split a donation of $5 or more now between Gov. Newsom's Ballot Measure Committee and my campaign? Every dollar you give will help make sure Democrats have the resources we need to fight fire with fire and flip the House blue. | If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your split donation between Catherine Cortez Masto and Governor Newsom’s Ballot Measure Committee will go through immediately: | This is too important not to take action. | ¡La lucha sigue! The fight continues!
