2026 World Cup Ticket Sales Are About To Begin

The first opportunity to score regular tickets for the 2026 World Cup is on Wednesday. But be warned: Tickets may not be easy to get — and they likely won’t be cheap.

Demand for the popular men’s tournament is expected to soar even higher once the tournament kicks off across the United States, Mexico and Canada in June.

FIFA, the organization behind the World Cup, is also upending the way it sells tickets for its flagship tournament, which could compound the challenges of scoring them.

Most prominently, FIFA is set to unveil a controversial pricing system: They say it’s not the same as dynamic pricing — but prices will adjust based on demand.

Here’s what to know about ticket sales for the World Cup.

There will be multiple sales dates for tickets

The Brazilian Day (BR Day), held at Little Brazil (6th ave & 46th st) for 38 years, will not happen again this year due to several obstacles.

It is worth mentioning however that the street fair on Sixth Avenue - with various typical products from Brazil - will take place. What has been postponed are the musical performances that take place on the stage normally set up on Sixth Avenue between 43rd and 42nd Streets. At Little Brazil, Brazilian restaurants will also keep their traditional special menus to celebrate the country's Independence Day. Anyone wishing to participate in the fair by exhibiting their products should contact MARDI GRAS at 212-809-5200.

Proportion Of Brazilians Living Alone Grows 52% In 12 Years

One in five Brazilian households has only one resident.

The proportion of Brazilians living alone jumped 52 percent in 12 years. In 2024, 18.6 percent of households were inhabited by only one person – approximately one in five.

In 2012, this share stood at 12.2 percent. In 2012, Brazil had 61.2 million addresses, 7.5 million of which had one resident. In 2024, households totaled 77.3 million, 14.4 million of which with just one person.

The finding was released Friday (Aug. 22) by the statics bureau IBGE.

Research analyst William Kratochwill points out that the growth in single-occupant households is associated with the aging of the population. According to the survey, in 12 years the proportion of people aged 65 or older rose from 7.7 to 11.2 percent.

“Forty percent of single-person households in Brazil are occupied by people aged 60 or older,” he noted.

“These are people who have been widowed or who used to live with their families, but whose children have gone on to start their own families, leaving them increasingly alone,” he went on to say.

Runoff Alert

Three things you need to know about Georgia’s September 23rd runoff election:

  1. In just 13 days, DLCC Spotlight candidate Debra Shigley is facing a runoff with a chance to flip a seat in the Georgia state Senate and flip her district blue for the first time in over a decade.
  2. If Debra is elected, she will fight for stronger public school funding, expanded access to affordable health care, and a lower cost of living for working families.
  3. This runoff election is a prime opportunity to weaken the GOP’s hold on the Georgia legislature and empower local Democratic leaders working to safeguard our freedoms from Trump and his stateside allies.

It’s all hands on deck until polls close in Georgia’s runoff election. Can we count on you to own a piece of our fight by chipping in $7 to help elect state Democrats in places like Georgia nationwide?

Voters will begin to cast their ballots this month in Virginia, in what is projected to be the most consequential and competitive election of 2025.

On September 19th, early voting opens in Virginia’s general elections to determine control of the state legislature, the lieutenant governorship, and the governorship. Democrats won the Virginia House in 2023 with a single seat by just 975 votes – an incredibly thin margin.

Every donation to the DLCC helps mobilize organizers and support state legislative campaigns in places like Virginia. Will you donate $7 to expand and hold Democratic majorities in states nationwide?

Our win in 2023 blocked Virginia’s far-right governor from enacting his extreme MAGA agenda and the Republican takeover of our public schools. Just 975 votes made the difference in the lives of millions of Virginians.

This year, we have the chance to do the same and give future Democratic Governor Spanberger the legislative majorities she needs to lower costs for Virginians.

A contribution of $7 provides the DLCC with resources to strengthen Democratic majorities nationwide in battleground states like Virginia and beyond.

Together,

Team DLCC

FL 24 hour countdown

In just 5 hours, polls close in Florida’s special elections.

That’s 5 hours to fight to build Democratic power in one of the reddest states in the country and 5 hours to get every last voter to the polls before it’s too late.

The DLCC is leading the fight to win America’s statehouses. Will you rush $7 before the polls close to help power our work to elect state Democrats across the country?

Democrats compete in special elections nearly every Tuesday, meaning the DLCC’s work must continue all year long. If we slip up or miss an opportunity, that means potentially ceding power to Trump and the far-right.

Every dollar we raise powers investments in must-win battleground districts. Bigger investments mean state Dems can hire staff, purchase ad space, and overall compete against Republicans and their far-right billionaire donors.

Your $7 directly funds Democratic victories in states like Florida and beyond.

Winning tonight in Florida is just one piece of a much larger strategy. Can you chip in before polls close? A $7 donation makes a huge difference.

Together,

Team DLCC
