Empreenda Brasil Mulher Brings Together More Than 500 Female Leaders in São Paulo and Launches Its First Magazine Edition

São Paulo hosted the 8th edition of Empreenda Brasil Mulher on June 8 at the Teatro Frei Caneca, bringing together more than 500 businesswomen, entrepreneurs, executives, public managers, and female leaders from different regions of the state. Recognized as one of the leading events dedicated to empowering women in leadership and business, the gathering offered a full day of networking, learning, inspiration, and business opportunities.

The event featured a diverse program of keynote speeches, thematic panels, tributes, and networking sessions focused on entrepreneurship, innovation, leadership, professional development, and financial independence. Participants had the opportunity to exchange experiences, establish strategic partnerships, and strengthen professional connections across various sectors of the economy.

Several distinguished personalities, business leaders, public officials, and influential women attended the event, highlighting the importance of female entrepreneurship as a driving force for economic growth and social transformation. Throughout the day, inspiring stories were shared by women who are making a positive impact in their communities through their businesses, leadership, and social initiatives.

One of the major highlights of this year's edition was the launch of the first issue of Empreenda Brasil Mulher Magazine. The publication showcases the stories of women who stand out in their fields and use entrepreneurship, leadership, and social engagement to transform lives and inspire others. Many of the women featured in the magazine were present at the event, sharing their journeys of resilience, achievement, and community impact.

Founded by Fernanda Torres, the Empreenda Brasil Mulher movement has expanded its presence across several cities in São Paulo State, creating opportunities for women to connect, grow, and strengthen their participation in leadership and decision-making spaces. The initiative also seeks to encourage the creation of new businesses while fostering a strong support network among female entrepreneurs.

The newly launched magazine will become an integral part of this mission, with monthly editions dedicated to promoting inspiring stories and giving visibility to women who are making a difference in various sectors of society. Organizers expect the project to continue expanding its reach and contributing to economic and social development through female leadership and entrepreneurship.

With another successful edition, Empreenda Brasil Mulher reaffirmed its commitment to empowering women, creating opportunities, and strengthening female leadership. The event continues to serve as a platform for innovation, collaboration, and growth, helping shape a more inclusive and prosperous future.

PROGRAM LAUNCH – 2nd FORRÓ DOS RATOS EM MOVIMENTO 100% VINYL EVENT

The event aims to promote Northeastern Brazilian culture and keep it alive through research, preservation, and the vinyl record culture in the city of São Paulo.

On June 6, the Casa de Cultura Butantã will host another edition of the Forró dos Ratos em Movimento project.

The event brings together a creative economy fair, dance workshops, cultural production training, and DJ workshops teaching participants how to operate turntables and become DJs. To make the experience even more exciting, the project's resident DJs and a special guest DJ will keep the dance floor alive throughout the event.

Focused on education and democratizing access to culture, Forró dos Ratos em Movimento 100% Vinyl also offers four DJ workshops and two discussion circles on executive and artistic production, emphasizing Northeastern cultural expressions. These activities encourage the autonomy of artists and independent producers, expanding access to knowledge and stimulating new initiatives within the cultural sector.

Recognized as one of Brazil’s most important cultural manifestations, forró originated in the Northeast and encompasses rhythms such as baião, xote, and xaxado, establishing itself as an expression of identity, social interaction, and cultural resistance. Popularized by artists such as Luiz Gonzaga, the genre transcends music and has become a social practice involving dance, oral traditions, and the transmission of knowledge between generations. Within this context, the project reinforces the role of forró as a living cultural heritage, especially when integrated into the contemporary urban environment.

By adopting vinyl as both language and concept, Forró dos Ratos em Movimento proposes a reconnection with the physicality of music and the sonic memory of the genre. Beyond preserving historical recordings, vinyl values musical curation and highlights the DJ’s role as a cultural mediator, offering an alternative to the immediacy of digital culture. This choice shapes the entire structure of the project, which includes five musical performances featuring resident DJs and special guests who guide audiences through sound narratives celebrating the history and legacy of great names in forró music.

The inspiration behind the project is directly linked to the journey of its creator, Ataliba, who explains:

"I started working with forró out of love for the genre and because there was a lack of alternative, differentiated, vinyl-based forró events."

According to him, the choice of format goes beyond aesthetics and responds to a real audience demand:

"By attending forró parties and getting to know the community, I realized that forró dancers often preferred DJ sets over live bands because they could dance to the songs typically played during DJ sessions."

The project's uniqueness is also rooted in other cultural experiences.

"This distinctive identity came from skateboarding culture, where I was already working as an event producer. Through skate culture and my experiences in downtown São Paulo, I developed this identity," says Ataliba.

His relationship with forró, however, goes much further back:

"Since childhood, I had the privilege of being around my father's Northeastern friends, who owned bars where forró performances and gatherings frequently took place. Around 1994, when I was about 15 years old, I began attending forró dance events."

For the creator, the project also fulfills an important social and symbolic role:

"I hope to elevate and value this Northeastern DJ culture, which is often marginalized and faces prejudice."

At the same time, the project invests in audiovisual content production, creating nine social media teasers to expand its reach and engage different audiences. The initiative also evolves into a festival format, integrating a handicrafts fair, dance workshops, forró DJ workshops, forró production workshops, musical performances, and educational activities focused on the creative economy, solidarity economy, and cultural cooperativism, contributing to the strengthening of popular culture production chains.

By reaffirming the importance of public cultural funding policies, the project highlights its impact on preserving and promoting forró as a relevant cultural expression in today's society. Open to the public, Forró dos Ratos em Movimento 100% Vinyl invites the press, opinion leaders, and anyone interested in Brazilian culture to experience a program that connects music, memory, and community.

The project was selected by the Municipal Program for the Promotion and Dissemination of Forró – 5th Edition and arrives with a solid proposal for the appreciation, preservation, and dissemination of forró culture through artistic, educational, and creative economy actions. The initiative stands out by bringing vinyl records back to the center of the musical experience, encouraging more attentive and conscious listening while strengthening the forró scene in São Paulo.

You won’t believe who teamed up in the fight against GOP-led voter suppression: Michelle Obama and Stacey Abrams!

Join the fight against Republican voter suppression

They’re doubling their power to urge – together – that every single person who cares about our right to vote should join this fight.

In their very FIRST public joint venture, Michelle Obama warned that Republicans are attacking our “freedom to vote, cast our ballots and have our votes counted” – and Stacey Abrams explained how these laws would unfairly impact “Black, Brown, young, and working-class voters, and voters with disabilities.”

Michelle Obama and Stacey Abrams are drawing attention to this problem. Now, it’s our turn to do something about it.

Will you take action today? Rush a $7 donation to elect state Democrats who will FIGHT for voting rights – and help make an outsized impact as we rapidly approach Election Day >>

Michelle Obama and Stacey Abrams are a powerful team – that'll be a much-needed asset to Democrats during the midterms.

That's because the stakes couldn't be higher: Republican state legislators are pulling out all the stops to restrict Americans' access to the ballot box. The GOP cares more about clinging to power than protecting the fundamental freedoms of our democracy.

But we care about ensuring free and fair elections. That’s why Democrats like Michelle Obama and Stacey Abrams – along with millions of voters, activists, and grassroots supporters – are taking on the GOP and its voter suppression efforts.

But it’s going to take all of us pitching in. Can you chip in $7 now to elect state Democrats and defend voting rights nationwide >>

Thanks,
DLCC Team

President Obama is using his voice to amplify the critical importance of state legislatures:

Obama Gif

And no one would be better than President Obama – he served THREE terms in the Illinois State Senate!

Here’s exactly why he’s so right: While legislation stalls on the federal level, state legislators are making key decisions about access to abortion, the ballot box, and things like public education and health care services. Where Republicans have stripped their constituents of these rights, state Democrats have protected the right to choose, expanded early and absentee voting, and much, much more.

Simply put, state Democrats are the last line of defense against GOP extremism. But with just 32 days until Election Day, with early voting already kicking off in some states, we need every Democrat reading this to listen to President Obama and step up.

Will you listen to President Obama and chip in $7 right now to help elect Democratic state legislators?

Hi Sula,

The past few days have been a whirlwind celebration—and we wouldn’t be here without supporters and neighbors like you.

President and Mrs. Obama made a heartfelt return to Chicago for the official groundbreaking of the Obama Presidential Center. This celebration is a moving reminder of the community that made the Obamas who they are — the same community that will benefit from having a world class institution on the South Side of Chicago.

More than just a ceremony, the Obamas took the time to celebrate with the folks the Obama Presidential Center will serve. They met with the newest group of Obama Foundation Scholars learning to lead at the University of Chicago, and talked with local high school students about their hopes for the future.

They also caught up with alums from the Obama Administration and paid a surprise visit to Chicago Women in Trades to show their support to those acquiring the skills to work on projects across this great city, including the Obama Presidential Center.

Check out the highlights.

We cannot thank you enough for how far your support has already brought us. And as construction begins, we are so grateful to have you with us on this journey.

President Obama is using his platform to speak out about the importance of state legislatures:

“In a lot of ways the people who represent you at the state level have more of an impact on your life than elected officials in Washington.” -- Barack Obama

He’s SO right! State legislators create policies that impact everything from the roads we drive on to the lessons taught in our children’s classrooms. But right now state Democrats have been tasked with a heavy burden: Protecting our democracy and standing up to state Republicans’ hate-filled agenda.

State Democrats are our last line of defense against GOP extremism – so until Wednesday at midnight, we’re triple-matching every dollar donated to our movement to elect state Democrats.

Will you chip in $7 right now to elect state Democrats who will fight back against Trumpist Republicans and stand up for our Democratic values? Your donation will have THREE TIMES the impact before our end-of-month deadline >>

Electing more state Democrats this November starts with investing in key races, meeting face-to-face with local voters, and giving our Democratic state legislative candidates the resources they need to build winning campaigns.

This year’s midterm elections are shaping up to be some of the most competitive – so we’re putting the full strength of our movement behind our state Democratic candidates now, with just over 70 days to go.

But to expand our grassroots reach, we need to hit our August fundraising goal – and we need dedicated supporters like you to help us. Each gift to our movement has a lasting impact – it won’t just carry state Democrats through the midterms – it’ll pave the way for more incredible Democratic candidates to make their voices heard in state legislatures across the country.

Please, will you chip in a triple-matched donation of just $7 today to support state Democrats this November as they face off against Trumpist Republicans in the midterm elections? Every single dollar helps drive our movement forward.

Thanks,
DLCC Team

Hi there,

Today is a big day for all of us.

It’s the day we officially celebrate breaking ground on the Obama Presidential Center. And we wouldn’t be here without the unwavering support of people like you, who have supported President Obama since his unlikely campaign made history, and now, as his vision for a presidential center is taking shape to move people from hope to action.

That’s why we’re inviting you to share in the excitement. As you know, the Obama Presidential Center is dedicated to bringing people together to build a better future—and that starts with you joining us virtually for our special livestream of the ceremony today.

For those who’ve been on this journey with us, it’s time to reflect on everything that’s led to this moment.

That’s why President Obama sat down yesterday evening with David Plouffe, his former campaign manager, and other Obama alumni for a conversation about their time in government, their continued service, and the road forward for those who want to make a positive difference in the world.

There are wonderful things in store for the Obama Presidential Center, the City of Chicago, and the world. We’re grateful to have you along for the ride.
