The BNEF (Bloomberg New Energy Finance Summit) took place in New York on April 29 and 30. This event gathered important stakeholders in the fields of energy transition, renewables, green finance, ESG, and other related topics to discuss the future of these markets; all of which are relevant topics for Brazilian policies as well.


Consul General Adalnio Ganem participated as the keynote speaker in the discussion panel titled “Brazil's Role in the Global Climate Agenda and Its Path to Net Zero”, which was jointly organized by Apex-Brasil and BNEF. During his presentation, Ambassador Ganem commented on the current process of energy transition in Brazil and highlighted the country’s potential for attracting investments in energy transition projects, with a special focus on renewable energy solutions for the data centers industry.


Other speakers in the panel included Carlos Padilla, the head of investments of Apex-Brasil, who highlighted the investment potential for sustainable energy solutions in the context of the energy transition in Brazil; Thiago Prado president of the Energy Research Office (EPE), who emphasized the sustainable energy matrix of Brazil and the prevalence of clean and renewable options in the Brazilian grid. Finally, Fernanda Delgado CEO ot the Brazilian Association of the Green Hydrogen Industry (ABIHV), who focused on the potential for trade and investments in green hydrogen in Brazil. Furthermore, among the other participants of the panel, there were the heads of the New York offices of Invest SP, Apex Brasil and Banco do Brasil.


A representative from the Consulate’s Science, Technology and Innovation Office followed most of the other panels of the summit. Of special interest were: the debate on the growing use of energy for data centers, future projections for the carbon market, challenges for the corporate commitments to ESG policies, and the present and future role of renewables in the US energy matrix.

Amazonian Leapfrogging 3.0 Conference at Princeton University

The Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies and Brazil lab will be co-hosting the event “Amazonian Leapfrogging 3.0” on May 8 from 1:30pm-6:00pm and May 9 from 8:30 am-6:00pm.


This conference will bring together leaders in science, public policy, finance and business, civil society, media, and social entrepreneurship from Brazil and Princeton University to explore nature-based solutions that promote conservation and socioeconomic development in the Brazilian Amazon. Doing so requires a better understanding of this critical juncture, a clear identification of the obstacles, and implementation of breakthrough ideas for exponential action to protect and restore forests, enhance ecosystem services and biodiversity, and promote a sustainable bioeconomy, low-carbon agriculture, and adaptive infrastructure. ICFF Furniture show, the biggest in North Amrerica to happen at Javits Center from May 18-20

The 2025 edition of ICFF ("International Contemporary Furniture Fair") will take place in New York from May 18-20. 13 Brazilian companies are set to participate under a delegation led by ABIMOVEL (Brazilian Furniture Association) and Apex-Brasil: Arboreal, Bell'Arte, Century Brazil by Harmony, Feeling Estofados, Florense, Massame Studio, Sier, Sollos, Tapetah, Uultis USA, Voler Móveis, YBY Design e Zen Design.


The Consulate-General of Brazil in New York has supported Brazilian companies exhibiting at ICFF for more than 20 years. The event is the main showcase opportunity for contemporary furniture in North America. On May 15 and 16, the Consulate will host a business roundtable, welcoming 17 Brazilian companies that will participate in meetings with potential buyers.


The business volume carried out during the business rounds at the Consulate General and ICFF in 2024 reached a consolidated value of US$ 76 million, with approximately US$ 14.3 million in immediate business and US$ 61.8 million in business for the next 12 months.

Brazil at the Center of the Debate on Food Security and Global Energy Transition

The Consulate General of Brazil in New York, in partnership with DATAGRO is set to host the 4th Business Meeting "Brazil's Leading Role in Food Security and Global Energy Transition" on May 12. The event will bring together authorities, experts and industry representatives, and will be attended by the President of CNI, Ricardo Alban, and several state industry federations.


The discussion will focus on the main Brazilian legislative measures aimed at attracting investments related to the energy transition and climate change control. These initiatives have already resulted in substantial investment commitments in the areas of energy and mobility, further strengthening Brazil's advanced position in these strategic sectors. The meeting is part of the Consulate General's ongoing efforts to promote dialogue on Brazil's role as a leader in sustainable solutions to global challenges, highlighting opportunities for cooperation and investment between Brazil and the United States.

Grand Opening of NYCxDESIGN at Dell Anno New York

Minister Anielle Franco Delivered Lecture at NYU

Anielle Franco, the Brazilian Minister of Racial Equality, was in New York during the week of April 12-16 for an official mission to the UN Permanent Forum on People of African Descent. In this context, Anielle also participated in an event with civil society in the Consulate-General of Brazil in New York that took place on April 15.


The Minister also gave a lecture at New York University on April 16 on the topic of “Playing for Equality: Sports as a Tool for Social Transformation”. This event was the result of a collaboration between the Consulate-General of Brazil in New York alongside the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) and the Wagner School of Public Service at NYU. On the occasion, she spoke about her personal and professional trajectory and her recent work as Minister of Racial Equality.

PUB-NY April Meeting in the Consulate General of Brazil in New York

The April Meeting of the Pesquisadores Universitários Brasileiros (PUB-NY) group took place at the Consulate General of Brazil in New York on April 24.  The topic of conversation was “Research in Intensive Medicine”, hosted by Marcela Lopes, who was a researcher at Mount Sinai Hospital and is currently an adjunct professor at Fordham University.

Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Releases International Report on the Video Games Market

The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Itamaraty) released a report this April giving an updated overview of the international Video Games market. With information collected by the many local Science, Technology and Innovation Offices (SECTECs) of  Brazilian Embassies and Consulates, this report details the global scenario of this key industry by looking at the market size of different countries, identifying key trends, analyzing innovation ecosystems in select countries and regions, and identifying specific opportunities abroad for the Brazilian Video Games industry.
