ACLAB Celebrates 6th Anniversary with Major Awards Event and Special Guest Actor Deo Garcez

Women in Professions Summit brings together 20,000 registered women at Expo Center São Paulo and celebrates the strength of female entrepreneurship

São Paulo hosted the opening of the Women in Professions Summit this Monday (4), one of the largest gatherings dedicated to female leadership and empowerment in Brazil. The event was conceived and promoted by businesswoman Luiza Helena Trajano, an internationally recognized figure in entrepreneurship and innovation since the founding of her company, Magazine Luiza.

Held on August 4 and 5 at Expo Center Norte in São Paulo, the event brought together thousands of women from all regions of the country for a program focused on leadership, innovation, management, and business development.

With approximately 20,000 women registered, the Summit transformed the capital of São Paulo into a major hub for exchanging experiences, networking, and strengthening female entrepreneurship. The opening ceremony was marked by a deeply emotional moment: the performance of the Brazilian National Anthem by singer Fafá de Belém, who received a warm standing ovation from the audience.

Throughout the first day, the stage welcomed major figures from entrepreneurship, culture, and communication. Among the distinguished guests were actresses Beth Goulart and Denise Fraga, as well as businesswoman Janete Vaz, co-founder of Grupo Sabin, who shared her inspiring journey of leadership and innovation.

Another emotional highlight was the exhibition Brazilian Monalisas by Dilson Cavalcanti. Since the creation of the Brazilian Monalisas project, the artist has honored remarkable Brazilian women, including Luiza Helena Trajano, portrayed in the artwork Monalisa Luiza Trajano.

The business fair was also one of the event’s main attractions. Companies from various sectors showcased their products, services, and solutions in specially designed booths created to welcome entrepreneurs, investors, and professionals interested in expanding connections and business opportunities.

Delegations from Brasília, Federal District, the State of Goiás, and several other regions of Brazil took part in the gathering, bringing together businesswomen, executives, independent professionals, students, and women seeking professional growth and new perspectives for their businesses.

Globally recognized for her leadership at Magazine Luiza and for encouraging female entrepreneurship, Luiza Helena Trajano once again demonstrated her ability to bring people together around a common purpose: strengthening women’s presence in the workforce, innovation, and business leadership. Her journey is defined by the management of one of Brazil’s largest retail networks, leading an organization with thousands of employees and inspiring generations of entrepreneurs.

The Women in Professions Summit continues this Tuesday, August 5, with an intense schedule of lectures, discussions, business model presentations, innovation, technology, leadership, and professional development activities. The expectation is for another day filled with learning, strategic connections, and recognition of women’s strength, consolidating the event as one of the most relevant entrepreneurship gatherings in Brazil.

This coming August, the Academy of Sciences, Letters, and Arts of Brazil (ACLAB) invites the public, notable figures, officials, and friends to the official celebration of its 6th anniversary—a significant milestone in the promotion of culture, education, and art within the state and the country.

The event will take place on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 6:30 PM, at the Prefeito Virgínio Ometto Theater (Rua Pedro Chinelatto, 203, City Center, Iracemápolis/SP).

A highlight of the program is the confirmed attendance of actor Deo Garcez—who plays President Nilo Peçanha in the Rede Globo soap opera *A Nobreza do Amor*—symbolizing respect for national history and culture.

The ceremony will include the induction of new academic members, the presentation of the "Best of the Year" Awards, and a tribute to patroness Cora Coralina. This tribute involves presenting an award bearing her name to recognize individuals who uphold her legacy of literature and Brazilian identity. Special recognition will also be given to Vicência Bretas Tahan—the poet's daughter and the devoted guardian of her work—who has dedicated herself to preserving and sharing her mother's memory and values with future generations.

Featuring additional honors, cultural performances, and a social gathering under the leadership of International President Baron Ednei Pereira, ACLAB marks its sixth year firmly established as a cultural reference point, strengthening the values of science, literature, and art.

And now, these programs have a permanent home at the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago.

Arthur de Souza Neto Strengthens International Cooperation by Inviting Sula Costa to the Cultural Directorate of the International Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Agriculture, Culture and Tourism – Equatorial Guinea and the Amazon Region

The strengthening of international relations between Brazil, Equatorial Guinea and the Amazon Region gains a new chapter with the invitation made by Arthur de Souza Neto, Vice-President of the International Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Agriculture, Culture and Tourism – Equatorial Guinea and the Amazon Region, an institution chaired by Dr. Fábio Ely Zenaro Ramos, to journalist, cultural producer and social entrepreneur Sula Costa to join the select governing body of the entity as Director of Cultural Affairs.

The initiative represents an important step towards expanding international cooperation through culture, education, the creative economy, tourism, entrepreneurship and artistic exchange, strategic areas for sustainable development, economic integration and the strengthening of relations between the countries and regions represented by the Chamber.

Recognized for his work in promoting institutional, commercial, and cultural relations, Arthur de Souza Neto has contributed to building strategic partnerships aimed at strengthening international cooperation. By inviting Sula Costa to join the International Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Agriculture, Culture and Tourism – Equatorial Guinea and the Amazon Region, he reaffirms the importance of culture as an instrument for economic development, international diplomacy, social inclusion, and rapprochement between peoples.

Sula Costa's selection is based on a trajectory marked by commitment to education, culture, and international cooperation. Between 2008 and 2014, she developed experiences linked to the United Nations through the Intergovernmental Renewable Energy Organization (IREO), an international organization founded by Robson Mello, participating in initiatives focused on sustainable development, cooperation between countries, and the construction of international networks. This experience broadened her vision of cultural diplomacy, human development, and articulation between governments, international organizations, and civil society—competencies that strengthen her work on projects of global reach.

This international experience, combined with the work developed throughout her career as a journalist and cultural producer, strengthens her ability to promote cultural exchanges, bring Brazilian and international institutions closer together, and develop productive social actions, stimulating initiatives that unite education, culture, entrepreneurship, innovation, and community development.

In 2024, Sula Costa founded the WORLD ART SHOW BRASIL Association, a non-profit organization created with the mission of democratizing access to artistic and cultural education in Brazilian communities. In just two years of operation, the association consolidated initiatives focused on the artistic training of children, young people, adults, and the elderly, reaching more than seven communities in the State of São Paulo through painting workshops, crafts, creative economy, exhibitions, professional training, and social inclusion projects.

The association also develops an innovative partnership model with the private sector for the implementation of Cultural and Sports Parks, spaces designed for the integration of culture, sport, education, sustainability, innovation, and community entrepreneurship. The project is expanding and foresees its implementation in four Brazilian states, significantly broadening its reach and social impact.

The appointment of Sula Costa to the Directorate of Cultural Affairs of the International Chamber represents an opportunity to internationalize these initiatives, promoting the creation of exchange programs between artists, universities, schools, social organizations, museums, cultural institutions, companies, and government representatives from Equatorial Guinea, the Amazon Region, and other partner countries.

Among the proposals are the holding of international exhibitions, cultural festivals, artistic residencies, business missions focused on the creative economy, training programs, student exchanges, professional training, cultural tourism initiatives, actions aimed at female entrepreneurship, sustainability projects, and social programs that use culture as an instrument of transformation, inclusion, and development.

The joint action of the International Chamber seeks to strengthen not only institutional and commercial relations but also to expand opportunities for artists, cultural producers, educators, researchers, businesspeople, and entrepreneurs, consolidating an international cooperation network based on innovation, knowledge sharing, and the appreciation of cultural diversity.

The invitation extended by Arthur de Souza Neto—with the institutional support of Dr. Fábio Ely Zenaro Ramos, President of the International Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Agriculture, Culture, and Tourism (Equatorial Guinea and the Amazon Region)—embodies a strategic vision for the future: leveraging culture, commerce, tourism, and education as enduring bridges for development between nations.

Drawing on Sula Costa’s international experience, her leadership of the WORLD ART SHOW BRASIL Association, and her career dedicated to journalism, education, culture, and social inclusion, the aim is to expand international cooperation projects, strengthen cultural exchange, promote high-impact social initiatives, and contribute to sustainable development. This effort seeks to consolidate a network of partnerships uniting governments, the private sector, cultural institutions, and communities around shared goals of growth, innovation, and international integration.

Obama Foundation

Barack’s 65th birthday is just a few days away! As my husband turns another year older, I’m reminded that the journey we started all those years ago is far from over. In fact, in many ways, it’s just beginning.

Not only is this a milestone birthday for Barack, but it’s also a milestone year for The Obama Foundation! With the opening of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago, we’re marking a new chapter in our mission—empowering folks from all over the world to bring change home.

Birthdays have a way of marking time. But they also give us a chance to recommit ourselves to the values we believe in, to the people we care about, and to the work still left to do. I know you share Barack’s vision for a brighter, more just future—and I hope you will help us celebrate his birthday by making a gift to The Obama Foundation today.

Barack Obama in a room full of people, laughing.

Over the years, I have seen Barack pour his time and energy into lifting up our nation’s young people. So I know the most meaningful birthday gift you can give is to help grow The Obama Foundation’s programs, including the My Brother’s Keeper Alliance and the Girls Opportunity Alliance.

These programs fund scholarships and provide opportunities to young people around the globe. So when you make your special birthday gift today, you’ll be supporting the next generation of leaders who will go on to build a better world.

Please give the gift of change this year by donating to celebrate Barack’s milestone birthday.

Warmly,
Michelle
