LOS ANGELES-  OCT. 22ND - 23RD

I wanted to personally thank everyone who came out  to The Directors Guild of America Theater to support my festival. The finals was such a success we not only filled the main theater with 600 + people, but had to use the over flow theater where we had 280 more guests!

During the awards presentation I had help from a few friends... Craig Robinson not only hosted the festival, but he presented the Best Actor award.  Actor Eric La Salle
presented the Best Director award, Comedian Marlon Wayans presented the Short of the Year award, and the legend Dave Chappelle presented the audience choice award!

All three categories of  Best Short Film, Best Writing, and Best Actor went to the  Made In Chinatown short film with writer and director Kevin Lau, Nyssa Chow for writer, and  actor Tim Chiou.  Best Director category went  to Zao Wang from
Honeymoon Suite.

The Audience Award , which was the audience's choice, went to A Different Tree with director Steven Caple Jr. Another Best Actor went to Dayton Sinkia from Goldtooth

The 2013 finalists each received a prize package along with an additional package if you were a category winner. You can check out the  here .

This week, the U.S. Senate voted to consider the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, or ENDA. This legislation has a very clear purpose: to make sure that no one can be fired for who they are or who they love.
Right now, only 17 states prohibit employment discrimination against LGBT workers. That leaves millions of Americans who go to work every day fearing that they could lose their job because of who they are.
As the President said earlier this week, that's not acceptable.
A majority of Americans assume there is a prohibition against discrimination based on sexual orientation in the workplace. There's not, and that's exactly why this is so important -- and why we need your help to get the word out. Yesterday, Press Secretary Jay Carney explained what ENDA does, and why it's so important in the fight for equality.
At a time when Washington is spending so much of its time bickering over partisan issues, Congress has an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of millions of Americans by passing this commonsense -- and overdue -- law.
It's not just civil rights advocates who support ENDA. Business leaders know that prohibiting employment discrimination is good for business. Inclusive workplaces attract the best and brightest employees, and improve their bottom line.
ENDA is set for a final vote in the Senate, and then the House needs to pass it. Americans need to know where members of Congress stand, and what is at stake.
The Legal Programs & Events Committee invites you to attend a panel discussion on

The New Brazilian Takeover Panel
and Listed Company M&A in Brazil
Thursday, November 14, 2013
The speakers will address the most recent and developments in the market and regulation of listed company M&A.
2013 has seen groundbreaking developments in the M&A market for Brazilian listed companies.  A spate of high-profile acquisitions explored promising new opportunities for deal-making.  The Brazilian Securities Commission issued draft rules overhauling the disclosure requirements for mergers.  But the newly formed Brazilian Takeover Panel (Comitê de Aquisições e Fusões) is arguably the most important innovation in Brazilian equity markets since the creation of the Novo Mercado.  Relying on the explicit support of the Brazilian Securities Commission, the Takeover Panel is designed to oversee mergers and acquisitions involving Brazilian listed companies that have voluntarily submitted to the Code on Mergers and Acquisitions issued by the Takeover Panel.  The speakers will review the events of 2013 and discuss the future workings of the Takeover Panel and Code.
