About Choro Livre and Choro
The
group has performed worldwide in various music festivals along with
grand Brazilian popular musicians. Choro Livre is known for its
contemporary reinterpretations of classical choro tunes, but the
repertoire also includes their own creations, as well as new compos
“Choro” (or cry in English), also called “chorinho”, is an instrumental Brazilian Music from the 19th century, considered the first national genre of urban popular music. It often has a joyous and fast rhythm
and is characterized by virtuosity and improvisation. The term “choro“
refers to the weeping sounds of the solo instrument, more commonly a
flute or clarinet.
