Claudia Vieira
Double Trace

Opening Thursday, January 9th, 6-8pm
January 9th - March 7th

“Double Trace” is Vieira’s first solo exhibition at Praxis, New York, featuring two main aspects
of this artist’s work: emblematic large drawings that she has been producing since the 2000s
and her live drawing performances, which will take place over the course of the exhibition.
Every Thursday from 6-8pm, Vieira will be present at the gallery, drawing in space, and
concluding a work that she begun in 2010, during a meditation retreat at the Brooklyn Zen
Center.
Since 2001, Claudia Vieira has worked with a single drawn line, which may fill paper, wall,
or a large space. The line inscribes time; it measures her commitment to drawing; it follows
the meta-line of her life. She marks every environment that she encounters by means of a
sustained concentrated effort, and these marks become records of her physical endurance
that ultimately hum with optical intensity.

Sula -- The GOP has used gerrymandering to silence Texans for a decade. So we've made the Lone Star State one of our top targets for 2020 -- and there's an election coming up this month!

Our candidate: Eliz Markowitz. Election Day is January 28. Help us win this seat and many others in 2020.
Eliz is fighting for one of the nine seats (out of 150!) that Democrats need to win back the Texas House and prevent Republican map manipulation. We are so close, Sula:
Texas Tribune:
Democrats could gain control of the Texas House for the first time since 2001. Houston Public Media: To Counter Gerrymandering, Texas Democrats Aim To Recapture State House in 2020. Pitch in to make it happen
But we have our work cut out for us. Republicans are digging in to protect their total control over redistricting in Texas and four other key states -- Ohio, Georgia, Florida, and North Carolina.

Will you help us take them on? Chip in to break Republican control in 2020!

In a few weeks, Iowa caucus-goers will start selecting the Democratic nominee for president -- and the race for the White House is going to start consuming a lot more attention in the media and in voters' minds.

That's dangerous for our work. 2020 is our last chance to beat Republican map manipulators before redistricting. We need Democrats to stay focused on key down-ballot races! I know you get it, Sula -- will you donate to help us win up and down the ticket in 2020?
Help the NDRC beat GOP map manipulators in 2020!
The truth is that even if a Democrat is in the White House for the next four or eight years, she (or he) will need a Democratic House majority to work with. So we can't allow Republicans to sweep state-level races and gerrymander themselves into power the way they did in 2010!

We have to act now to make sure that the officials who draw the lines for the next decade are committed to fair maps -- not gerrymandered partisan majorities that don't reflect the will of the voters.

This year is our FINAL CHANCE, Sula. Pitch in to help us break Republican control over redistricting all over the country!

Aninha Monteiro's birthday

In the next January 5th, dear Aninha Monteiro, known as the Queen of  Nordeste Columnist, celebrates another spring - in addition to many personal and professional achievements in the past year. Among them is his award as commander by the City of Maceió, recognition for his work of dissemination and promotion of Paradise of Waters in  nationwide that has been extended for many years. On the special date, Aninha intends to emanate gratitude and celebrate in his own way, with family and dear friends - many of them present virtually through beautiful videos uploaded to the columnist. 'The new phase brings me good expectations and the certainty that I follow on the right track. " I'm very happy and thank you all for the immense affection and all the love I receive wherever I go,'  says.

Handwritten note from Eric H. Holder, Jr.

As we enter 2020 I want to say "thank you" -- because supporters like you make this movement possible.

From Kentucky to Virginia, we achieved incredible victories in 2019 that will lead to life-changing progress in communities across the nation. I can't thank you enough for what you've done to support our movement -- you were the driving force behind our wins last year and I can't wait to continue the fight with you in 2020 and beyond.

Thank you for your support,
Eric
