Beginning June 30, 2020, SEC-registered broker-dealers will become subject to Regulation Best Interest, which will require them to act in their clients’ best interests when making an investment recommendation by meeting four core obligations. Additionally, both registered broker-dealers and registered investment advisers will be required to present prospective clients with new Form CRS (Customer/Client Relationship Summary).  Finally, broker-dealers and investment advisers must also comply with the SEC’s updated fiduciary interpretations.
Join our moderator, Fernando C. Alonso and speakers Scott Kimpel and Carl Goss, as they cover these topics from the perspective of senior-level compliance officers.  In this presentation, they will discuss the SEC’s new rules and provide insights as to how compliance programs can be enhanced.  They will also discuss wealth management topics and developments that might be of interest to bankers.

Subject: This issue will impact the next decade

Friend -- I wanted to reach out at the beginning of the year to give you a look at the road ahead.

It's 2020, and that means it's a census year -- this process will determine so much for our country's future, including the next decade's electoral maps.

Historically, minority and underprivileged communities have been undercounted in the census. If this happens again, it could help politicians repeat the kind of gerrymandering we saw in 2011 -- gerrymandering that leads to politicians who don't always feel as responsive to the concerns of their constituents as they could be. So, it's up to us to make sure that every single American is counted in the census.

That's why I'm asking you to fight for fair maps and a fair census -- because this issue will impact the next decade of progress and beyond. Will you chip in to this fight?

At this moment in our country, the All On The Line community is in a unique position to make a difference. We have the chance to restore democracy and put power back into the hands of people. Change is always within our reach -- but it's going to take the involvement of people like you holding politicians accountable to ensure an accurate census in 2020 and fair maps in 2021.

In Virginia, we've seen how fixing gerrymandering leads to progress. Last year, after a lawsuit forced the Commonwealth's racially gerrymandered districts to be redrawn, voters finally had the chance to elect politicians who represented their voices and listened to their concerns. And now, after years of inaction, the newly elected legislature is debating common-sense measures that could prevent gun violence.

We have the opportunity to create this kind of change all across the country. But to do it, we need your help.

DONATE

Thank you for being engaged in this fight,
Barack Obama

Sula -- Redistricting begins in one year. In the next 12 months, we have to expand our network of local organizers, empower and educate volunteers in their communities, and build our rapid response advocacy program.

These goals take resources -- it's why we rely on grassroots donors to invest in this effort. We've set an ambitious goal of 10,000 new All On The Line members this week. We can do it, but only if 196 people from New York step up.

Make a donation to become an official 2020 AOTL Member and you'll receive a link to download your membership card.

Every single vote cast in this country has been the result of hard-fought community advocacy by people who wanted to make change -- from our founding documents and the 15th Amendment to the 19th Amendment and the Voting Rights Act. And while we have made significant progress to protect the right to vote, we have had to combat voter suppression every step of the way.

The battles we fight now may look different, but they are rooted in the same fight for the right to vote that we've been fighting since the inception of this nation. In fact, our work to end gerrymandering is a fight to ensure that every vote counts.

We have already made an impact in this fight, but there is still a tough road ahead. We're not backed by special interests, which is why our grassroots movement needs you to support and sustain the organizing and advocacy efforts that will be critical for the next two years. Donate to the AOTL Advocacy Fund to support the volunteers fighting for fair maps.

We're standing at the horizon of a once-in-a-decade chance to fix a broken system. We know the problem -- politicians in gerrymandered districts are able to pass bills that are inconsistent with their constituents' values without any electoral consequence.

The solution is a fair system -- because when the system is fair, the will of the people prevails. Making sure our communities receive fair representation during 2021 redistricting also depends on achieving an accurate census count this year. It's why we've been talking to, and working with, partner organizations for months about how to emphasize the importance of the census.

We also need to strengthen our on-the-ground organizing efforts and we have no time to spare. Grassroots action and transparency in the process are the only ways we can hold politicians accountable for a fair redistricting effort.

All On The Line is leading the fight for fair maps by empowering people with tools, training, and infrastructure. But we need your help! Donate here to fund these crucial organizing efforts: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/advocacy-fund?email=sula_costa%40yahoo.com

As voting begins in the 2020 primaries, we must not lose sight of what happens at the state and local level. We have a chance to fix maps that were gerrymandered in 2011 -- a chance for the people to decide the direction of our nation for years to come.

This work is vital to the future of our democracy. I hope I can count on your support.

Thank you,

-- Eric H. Holder, Jr.
