Eric Holder's Unglamorous Fight to Unrig Redistricting In America -- Excerpt from David Daley's UNRIGGED: How Americans Are Battling Back to Save Democracy published in Talking Points Memo. Keep the fight going!

There's a lot standing in the way of fair maps:
  • An unfavorable Supreme Court ruling
  • Republicans' gobs of cash
  • Power players like Paul Ryan and John Boehner
  • GOP voter suppression
A.G. Holder won't rest until we've achieved fair elections, and neither will the NDRC. But we could really use your help. Will you make a contribution now to help us fight for fair maps?

The fight may be unglamorous, but it's worth it. Fair elections have been out of reach for too many people for too long a time. In fact, nearly 60 million Americans live in states where the party that won fewer statewide votes in 2018 holds the majority in at least one chamber of their state legislature.

This is the final year before redistricting, so there's no time to spare. To ensure fair elections and equitable representation we need to act now. Will you chip in to join our fight today?

National Democratic Redistricting Committee

Since 2017, the NDRC has been proud to help elect fair-map Democratic governors like Michigan's Gretchen Whitmer, Kentucky's Andy Beshear, and Wisconsin's Tony Evers. And during this public health emergency, we've been proud that each of them has fought to protect voters' access to the ballot box.

Here at the NDRC, we're working with our affiliates to make sure no one has to choose between casting a ballot and keeping themselves safe -- but we need your help to do it. Will you make a donation, if you can, to help us keep up this important work?

In Michigan, Governor Whitmer took an important step to make sure that upcoming elections will be conducted mostly by mail
, while ensuring that each jurisdiction has at least one in-person voting location available to those who prefer to cast their ballot that way.

In Kentucky, Governor Beshear issued an executive order allowing every registered voter to request a mail-in absentee ballot for the state's June primary elections. The order also ensures the State Board of Elections will take steps to protect the health and safety of poll workers and county clerks during the election.

And in Wisconsin, Governor Evers called for the state to send a mail-in ballot to every registered voter. Unfortunately, his request was denied by gerrymandered Republican majorities in the legislature who are intent on keeping turnout as low as possible. It's just one more reason we're targeting both chambers of the Wisconsin legislature this year. (Can we count on your help?)

It's not just Wisconsin, either. We're targeting map manipulating, voter suppressing Republicans up and down the ballot in target states all over the country this year -- but we need your help to get the job done.

If you're able, please make a donation today to help us win our fight for fair maps AND voting rights this November:
