With the election just over six months away, Republicans are still trying to draw the most gerrymandered districts they possibly can.

New York Times: 'G.O.P. Presses for Greater Edge on Florida and Ohio Congressional Maps | Help us fight in these and many other states!

Here's the latest:

In an unprecedented move, Florida legislative Republicans gave in to Gov. Ron DeSantis and let him draw his own gerrymandered maps that could give the GOP control over 71% of the state's congressional districts. Now, DeSantis has signed his preferred congressional maps.

And in Ohio, the state supreme court just had to strike down Republicans' gerrymandered maps for the FOURTH TIME (they continually refuse to draw fair ones!).

Holder quote: 'Republicans are trying to run out the clock by perpetuating this unnecessary and unconstitutional deadlock. Their mockery of the redistricting process is egregious.' | Fight back across the country

Florida and Ohio are perennial swing states and it's really important that we get the maps right. Your contribution will help us fight in these and other states all over the country – will you pitch in today?

Since 2017, the NDRC has executed a comprehensive redistricting strategy that shifts the redistricting power, creating fair districts where Democrats can compete. Our victories have been made possible by our strong community of grassroots supporters.

We’ve known for a while now that the Supreme Court is not a friend of democracy. In recent months, the six conservative justices have shown that they aren’t big fans of fair redistricting, either:

“After a redistricting cycle that initially went better than expected for Democrats, the conservative Supreme Court has bolstered Republican efforts to reverse that trend, with more cases in the wings from GOP attorneys and legislators from multiple states.”

– The Washington Post

We won’t sugarcoat it: This is an alarming development, and it underscores how much work there is still to do to ensure the fairest possible districts – both in 2022 and beyond. Your support is critical to the execution of that work, Sula. Will you pitch in whatever you can today to help the fight for fair maps?

A.G. Holder:'The Supreme Court continues to put its legitimacy at risk. Its ongoing willingness to act in an inconsistent manner and to ignore precedent raises real questions about its functioning.'
Help the NDRC fight gerrymandering

There are more threats from SCOTUS on the horizon. First, the justices could hear more redistricting cases in the coming months and years. And second, Republicans are asking the Court to validate the independent state legislature theory, a fringe idea that, if adopted, could give GOP state legislatures unprecedented power over maps and elections.

At the end of the day, it’s up to us to stay vigilant, find creative solutions, and keep fighting for fair elections in state after state. We need you with us – will you pitch in now?
