Reports of Child Abuse In Brazil Soar 114%

Posted on YouTube, the denunciation has had more than 38M views.

The number of reports of explicit material depicting children and adolescents collected by online human rights NGO SaferNet have skyrocketed by 114 percent since influencer and comedian Felipe Bressanim Pereira, widely known as Felca, described how content creators make money by exploiting minors in sexualized settings.

In the video, which has garnered over 38 million views, Felca denounces the monetization of content in which children and adolescents are sexually exploited. The number of reports was checked last Tuesday (Aug. 12) on the NGO’s reporting platform, which has maintained its national channel for reporting crimes and human rights violations on the web for almost 20 years. From August 6, when the video was posted, to midnight on Tuesday, SaferNet received 1,651 single reports. In the same period last year, the hotline had received 770 complaints. The surge reached 114 percent.

Single complaints are those that SaferNet receives online anonymously, which are then submitted to federal prosecutors after filtering.

Sea Ecosystems Threatened By Heat, Acidity, And Low Chlorophyll Rates

The three factors have converged more and more often in the Atlantic.

A combination of three phenomena is increasingly threatening ecosystems in the southern and equatorial regions of the Atlantic ocean—marine heat waves, high acidification, and low chlorophyll concentration.

Before 2016, it was unusual for these factors to converge. Since then, they have been observed simultaneously every year. All three phenomena stem from the current climate emergency.

The ocean is among the planet’s main climate regulators. It absorbs some 90 percent of the heat from the atmosphere and 30 percent of the carbon dioxide. When atmospheric heat is excessive, the ocean overheats. The accumulation of carbon dioxide makes the water more acidic.

These events could be alleviated if the food supply for marine species were adequate. Some ecosystems are able to survive warmer, more acidic waters if food is available.

We are polling top Democrats on Trump’s actions in Washington, D.C., including deploying the National Guard and putting the D.C. police under his control.

Please respond now to represent Democrats in your area:

Do you approve of Trump as Commander in Chief?

YES >>
NO >>

Poll response due at 11:59 PM

Trump is in the middle of an unprecedented power grab.

First: Trump declared there was a “public safety crisis” in Washington, D.C. – even though violent crime in the city is at a 30-year low.

Then: He deployed the National Guard in D.C. and took control of the D.C. police!

Now: Republican governors in red states are bending the knee to Trump and sending more National Guard troops to D.C.

Trump is deploying troops against U.S. citizens! We need to know how top Democrats feel about Trump as Commander in Chief. Please respond to our poll on behalf of local Democrats:

Do you approve of Trump as Commander in Chief?

YES >>
NO >>

Thanks for your response,

Perhaps no state better demonstrates the extreme unfairness of partisan gerrymandering than Ohio.

It wasn’t long ago that Ohio was considered the battleground state. President Obama won there in both 2008 and 2012 — but today, the state is represented in Congress by 10 Republicans and just five Democrats.

And now, state lawmakers have set their sights on Ohio to make the state even more gerrymandered with a redraw this fall — they could attempt to flip as many as three more seats.

This kind of system-rigging doesn’t happen overnight. It took years for extreme partisan interests to tip the scales in their favor, using every avenue and skirting laws and norms in the process. They’re in it for the long haul, and we must be too.

All On The Line will always fight for fair maps, no matter how difficult the path to victory. Sometimes this journey is two steps forward, one step back. But we know that the vast majority of Americans stand for fairness — and that’s why we need you with us.

Donate today to support All On The Line’s dogged efforts to fight until we have fair maps in all 50 states. Your donation will fund grassroots efforts to build power at the grassroots level and push back against anti-democracy power grabs.

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

Here’s a quick primer on how Ohio became a laboratory for partisan gerrymandering:

• November 2015: Ohio voters overwhelmingly pass a constitutional amendment to create the Ohio Redistricting Commission, which was intended to bring fairness into the process of creating electoral maps.

• September 2021: An entirely partisan Ohio Redistricting Commission proposes gerrymandered congressional and state legislative maps, which then get struck down by the Ohio Supreme Court.

• January 2022: Politicians pass a second set of gerrymandered state legislative maps, which get struck down by the courts again.

• February 2022: Undeterred, politicians pass a third set of state legislative maps. The courts strike them down and order Ohio to hire independent map drawers.

• March 2022: Politicians hire independent map drawers but ignore their work and plow ahead with their unconstitutional state legislative maps. Meanwhile, the politicians also passed another gerrymandered congressional map with only limited changes from the previous invalidated one.

• November 2022: Ohio elections officials use the unfair, unconstitutional maps in the midterm elections.

Because the congressional map in Ohio was passed on a purely partisan basis, it expires before the next election under a special state constitutional provision, and the Ohio Redistricting Commission must go back to work. That’s why some politicians today are dreaming that Ohio could be tipped 13-2 for Republicans in 2026.

It may seem like these extreme shifts in power happen overnight. But we know the truth: This has been a long game played by extreme partisan forces working behind the scenes and pulling every lever at their disposal.

Extremists think that they can get away with this illegal, unconstitutional gerrymandering. But that’s why All On The Line exists — to call out and fight back against these blatant attempts to seize unchecked power and silence the will of the voters.

You have the power to ensure we have the resources needed to match them every step of the way. Give now to build All On The Line as we mobilize supporters in Ohio and in these key fights for fairness across the nation.

Your support powers our movement — and we are so grateful.

Good morning! We know it’s early, but we wanted to catch you while you sip your morning coffee…

We have less than 24 hours before polls close in critical special elections in Georgia and Iowa.

And just like you may need a morning caffeine boost, state Democrats need critical resources to compete and win against MAGA extremists in elections across the country this fall, in 2026, and beyond.

For the price of just one morning coffee – $5 – you can make a genuine difference in state legislative elections and help our party compete against right-wing attacks. Will you donate a 3X-matched gift to the DLCC before our deadline?

If you've stored your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will process immediately.

With smaller staffs, budgets, and constituencies, your donation goes the furthest at the state legislative ballot level – grassroots contributions can even mean the difference between a Democratic victory or loss.

If everyone reading this email chipped in a triple-impact gift of $5, we’d close our budget shortfall and have enough fuel to compete with the millions of dollars that MAGA extremists are spending in state races.

$5 is all we’re asking for today. Ahead of the consequential elections in Georgia and Iowa, will you chip in to power the fight for Democratic power in the states?

Have a great rest of your day,

Team DLCC
