Brazil Week in Newark 2016 

Brazil Week is a week that celebrates the Brazilian Independence and promotes the Brazilian culture, tourism, and business in the USA through a series of activities.

" Brazil Week in Newark", will shed light on the ethnicity, four states in Brazil which upholds the African traditions.

The Exhibition will display the ethnic and cultural wealth of the states of Bahia, Minas Gerais, Pernambuco and Rio de Janeiro also explore the tourist and economic potential of these states.

There will be a fine arts display of the Brazilian Artists Rene Nascimento, Antonio Oliveira Filho, Veronica Martins and Jani Sault.
The event will also feature displays of the typical clothes of ethnic folklore of these states through artistic and cultural exhibitions, musical performances, dance, lectures and workshops.

In addition, "Brazil Week in Newark" will feature handicrafts and cultural manifestations of their cities.

Exhibition duration: August 30th to September 9th
Hours: 9am to 4pm
Opening Ceremony and Cultural Performance:
August 30th, 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM

Carnival Parade and the Contest "Samba Queen"

As part of the celebrations of Brazilian Day Newark 2016, a Carnival parade and a Samba Queen contest will feature samba dancers performing at Ferry Street. A panel of judges formed of artists, press professionals and the public will elect the Samba Queen 2016.

The presentation of the candidates and the Carnival parade will take place on Saturday, Sept. 4, at 1 p.m.

Local groups and artists like Batala Band, Samba New York, and the Silvia's Dance Company will parade along with the dancers, showing Carnival rhythms from several parts of  Brazil.

It will be a triumphant momente will bring the spirit of Bahia and the Brazilian Northeast to Ferry Street, in the center of the Brazilian community in Ironbound, and spread joy and samba all around."

The public can participate by bringing their costumes and dance along with the artists, in an anticipation of the famous Brazilian Carnival.
 



Brazilian Day Newark 2016

Two days of music, dance, arts & crafts, exotic food, samba,capoeira e cultural performances with local artists and  special guests from Brazil.
There will be booths for vendors and sponsors present, also wide variety of Brazilian cuisine and everything that Brazil as a whole
has to offer.
