Together, we’ve accomplished so much during this redistricting cycle.

Before the redistricting process began, some politicians and pundits were saying the Democratic Party had already lost -- that we could be staring at another decade of voting with gerrymandered maps in place.

Only that’s not what happened. Because you helped us fight for fair maps, Democrats were able to prevent Republican legislatures across the country from tilting maps in their favor -- to the point where some in the media are now calling it a “redistricting turnaround.”

That’s a big deal. Because of your work alongside organizations like All On The Line, it’s now unlikely that control of the House will be determined strictly by the way maps are drawn.

But just because Republicans couldn’t replicate what they did in 2011 doesn’t mean we can relax. We still need to preserve competitive elections across the country and ensure that every voice can be heard.

Will you make a donation right now to support All On The Line? We need to close out this cycle of map-drawing with a strong finish.

Last month, I was disappointed to see every Republican in the Senate once again block voting reforms that would have strengthened access to the ballot box and ended gerrymandering in congressional elections.

But thankfully, All On The Line has never counted on Congress alone to act. They’ve run a state-by-state strategy for fair maps -- and it’s working. For months now, the All On The Line team and volunteers have demanded accountability and stood by voters in states who filed lawsuits to prevent gerrymandering.

But with swing states like Florida still in the midst of contentious redistricting battles, we need your help. In the weeks ahead, All On The Line needs to keep mobilizing advocates to demand accountability and help voters challenge gerrymandered maps across the country.

Can I count on you to make a donation right now to support All On The Line? Their state-by-state strategy for fair maps is working, but we can’t stop fighting until every map is finalized.

-- Barack Obama

I'm writing you just ahead of our first monthly deadline of 2022, asking you to stay in the fight with us.

The opponents of democracy want nothing more than for us to give up, to give in to cynicism, and to stop fighting. We’re not going to do that, and here's why.

Because I know that the American people want and deserve a political system that works -- a political system that represents them. Because what we’ve accomplished so far in our fight for fair maps gives me hope. Because if our heroes, people like the late Congressman John Lewis, had given up as they fought for equal access to the ballot, the history of this nation would look very different.

I can promise you this: The NDRC will continue to fight for fairness, justice, and democracy in every way we can. But we are stronger when we all fight together. For that reason, I'm asking you to make a donation before the end-of-month deadline coming up tonight.

Our movement and the actions we have led have clear momentum and the people are with us. In states like Colorado, citizen-driven initiatives that we supported have given rise to fair maps. In an Ohio suit that our affiliate filed, the state Supreme Court has overturned the gerrymandered state legislative maps drawn by the GOP-led commission. In other states, voters -- and the U.S. Department of Justice -- have joined us in challenging manipulated maps. And across the country, hundreds of thousands of people are speaking out against Republican attempts to restrict the freedom to vote.

My colleague President Barack Obama has said, "I believe activism will prevail over cynicism." I know he's right -- we just have to keep doing everything we can to work toward our goals. I want to thank you for everything you've done to support the NDRC's fight for fair maps and democracy so far, and to urge you to keep going. Let's keep bending the arc together.

Thank you,
Eric H. Holder, Jr.

When the Supreme Court ruled that federal courts could not place guardrails on partisan gerrymandering, A.G. Holder said:
'We are going to have to go state by state to protect voting rights.'
And that's exactly what we’ve been doing! We've had some exciting wins lately, while Republicans have gerrymandered in some states (but voters are fighting back!) The bottom line is that redistricting is not over. So we urgently need your help to continue the fight. Chip in now.
