NYFOS NEXT: CLARICE ASSAD & FRIENDS

DOORS: 06:45 PM / SHOW: 07:30 PM

Descended from a legendary musical family, Brazilian composer, pianist and singer Clarice Assad has been called "a veritable musical dynamo." Assad curates, hosts, and performs in a 75-minute program to include a world premiere of her own work alongside works by other Brazilian composers, showcasing the diverse musical styles of her country.
Now in its eighth season, the “invaluable contemporary-music series” (The New Yorker) NYFOS Next takes the longstanding NYFOS tradition of presenting new work, and puts it in the hands of the composers themselves. Each composer becomes a curator, building an hour-long program that features his/her own works and those of colleagues, students or influences.
ARTISTS:
Clarice Assad – Piano & Voice
Jorge Continentino – Winds
João Luiz Rezende – Guitar

A road movie that tells the story of three Brazilian chefs who travel to France, Italy and Japan to get back to family and culinary roots. On the trip, they look for the most authentic products, rescue the flavors of their grandparents' food, and cook in a Michelin Star restaurant. All this experience will lead them back to Brazil more aware of their abilities and with a mission: to place on each plate the culture, history and flavor their ancestors brought with them as they immigrated to Brazil.
