All On The Line
Hey -- It's Katie, the AOTL State Director down in Florida. I just wanted to follow up on Shehn's email about the State Plan Sponsor Fund.

I'm really excited that she turned to our grassroots donors to help support my plan. I've been organizing in the Sunshine State for nearly a decade. I've seen gerrymandering block progress on issues like gun reform, climate change, and Medicaid expansion. And it's getting worse -- the ACLU labeled our 2019 state legislative session "the most dangerous and threatening to Floridians' civil liberties and civil rights in over a decade."

You should also know the impact of map manipulation in our state doesn't stop at the state line. Florida could pick up another U.S. House seat after the 2020 Census, putting our redistricting process front and center in the battle over whether representatives from fair -- or from gerrymandered -- districts head to Congress.

That's why I spent so much time writing and rewriting the Florida plan -- challenging my own assumptions, and searching for just the right tactics for just the right opportunities. Shehn is right -- these plans are our key to our success, but they aren't cheap. So we need you to chip in and become one of our 1,000 State Plan Sponsors before Monday so I can start my work.

Stay tuned for an update from Saumya on our progress.

Subject: A big task

10 Target States. 10 State Plans.
1,000 State Plan Sponsors?
We're launching a new fund to make winning advocacy strategies a reality in 10 states. Rush a donation to become a State Plan Sponsor before our Sunday deadline.

Friend -- I don't know how much I've told you about my job. Here's the gist: I oversee five target states for All On The Line. That means I spend a lot of my time poring over memos, budgets, and event plans prepared by our state directors on the ground.

This week, our state directors just completed a HUGE task. They finalized complete state plans that paint a detailed picture of how we WIN fair maps in our 10 target states and STOP map manipulators from distorting district lines in 2021.

That's the good news -- we have our winning strategies in hand. The bad news? These plans are EXPENSIVE. We're talking grassroots events, paid media, earned media, travel for AG Holder, volunteer supplies, I can go on and on and on. That's what it's going to take to win.

I really don't want to tell our state directors we're going to have to cut their plans down because of costs. So I told our team we'd recruit 1,000 State Plan Sponsors before the end of the weekend. Will you become one of the 1,000 State Plan Sponsors we need to get their plans off the ground?

Brazil’s tax system is notoriously complex and unpredictable, leading to enormous compliance costs and massive tax contingencies. With pension reform nearing completion, tax reform is the next major item on the Government’s path to economic reform.

Join us for a panel discussion that will identify the key issues behind Brazil’s tax complexity, and why tax reform is so necessary. The panel will review the laws and constitutional amendments being proposed, including differences in the proposals of Congress and the Bolsonaro administration. Finally, the panel will consider the corporate viewpoint of Brazilian taxes and tax reform as well as the key political factors behind the expected timing and ultimate shape of the reforms.

Hey Sula -- I was looking at donation numbers today and saw something curious. Turns out we get a lot of donations between midnight and 6am. So I gotta ask... does gerrymandering keep you up at night?

To be honest, map manipulation is a living nightmare. District lines are drawn with precision to pack and crack neighborhoods -- all in the name of partisan political gain. When politicians pick their voters, they're attempting to silence our voices. We need to show them we refuse to be silenced.

Make your voice heard by pitching in a late-night donation to All On The Line.

People like you moved mountains to build a more fair and just system. But there's still so much work to do. And if map manipulators get their way, they will spend the next decade dismantling progress instead of building on it.

In fact, map manipulators were so effective in that last round of redistricting, they've been able to net an additional 19 seats in the U.S. House in each election -- despite not always winning a majority of the votes.

That's why I wanted to email you before I called it a night. I joined the All On The Line team because I've seen firsthand how a strong grassroots movement can make a difference. Whether it was passing the ACA, gaining support for marriage equality, or making strides with environmental protections -- we made progress because we demanded it. And I can't stand the idea of another decade of map manipulators rigging elections in their favor and dismantling the progress we've fought so hard for.

If you believe the candidate who wins the most votes should also win the election, donate $5 to the fight to end gerrymandering. And hopefully, both you and I can sleep well tonight.
