(h/t to my friend Michael Alexander): A Visit From the Goon Squad. Jennifer Egan's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel escaped my attention. It is another New York City-centered whirlwind of a book, diving into the disasters and visions of music-makers, dreamers, and those who have made a royal mess of their lives. The writing is gorgeous, sad, honest, and raw. It pulls no punches exposing the underbelly that we may try to hide from the world, but still comes jutting out between the buttons of our shirt. Special. |

| We're launching a podcast! "Finding Home with Scott Harris" incorporates lots of interviews that I've done over the past year or longer. We're starting with a Clubhouse conversation I had recently. We discuss the future of New York City, and our power to process the events of the past 15-16 months. Enjoy this wide-ranging conversation! |

Broken Record PodcastI must say, I'm pretty late to this podcast, but it features a star-studded cast of brilliant writers and music makers, including Rick Rubin (amazing producer) and Malcolm Gladwell, interviewing luminaries and diving behind the scenes into music making- and playing lots of music in the process. Enjoy!

| Dagon I had the pleasure of enjoying this new Mediterranean restaurant a few weeks ago with friends, and got an amazing seat courtesy of Upper West Side Restauranteur Robert Guarino, who I needed to enlist because I COULDN'T GET A RESERVATION! Imagine that- a packed restaurant, and in my neighborhood, no less! The string pulling was well worth it! Having just had some fantastic meals at nearby North Miznon, this was, by comparison, a much more celebratory vibe, and a bit of a lighter palette. The highlight dishes included their cauliflower, their entire mezze menu of appetizers, along with their outstanding fish! Worth going with a huge party. You'll thank me, as you can then enjoy everything. |

Stuffed Puffs Still on the theme of the S'more, I URGE you to never use regular chocolate and marshmallows again. The stuffed puffs put the chocolate INSIDE the marshmallow, eliminating the concern of not having melty chocolate! It is genius! I can't really understand why this took until now, but I'll just admire the majesty of a perfect S'More. Enjoy!

Tribute to H.E. Ambassador Paulo Tarso Flecha de Lima(July 8, 1933 – July 12, 2021) On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce, we regretfully inform you of the passing, on July 12, 2021 at the age of 88, of H.E. Ambassador Paulo Tarso Flecha de Lima, Brazilian diplomat, 1997 Person of the Year honoree, and longtime Chamber affiliate and supporter. Ambassador Flecha de Lima served as Ambassador of Brazil to the United Kingdom, the United States, and Italy, and from 1985-90, was Secretary General of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry. During his 46-year-long career in the Brazilian diplomatic service, he led initiatives to expand Brazil’s international trade and dedicated himself to the ideal that foreign policy can and should contribute to improving the lives of all Brazilians. His dialogue with the Chamber strengthened ties between Brazil and the United States and furthered the Chamber’s mission of promoting trade and investment between the two nations. Born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, Ambassador Flecha de Lima joined the Brazilian diplomatic service in 1955. He was a member of the staff of President Juscelino Kubitschek and served as Head of the Department of Trade Promotion as well as Undersecretary General for Economic and Commercial Affairs. He spent most of his overseas career in capital cities such as Rome, Paris, London, and Washington, DC. In August 1990, he successfully negotiated the release of some five hundred Brazilians living in Iraq whose lives were being threatened by Saddam Hussein during the onset of the Gulf War. Ambassador Flecha de Lima was predeceased by his wife, Lúcia Flecha de Lima, and is survived by his five children. More information on his great life and career can be found below. https://diariodopoder.com.br/brasil-e-regioes/morre-em-brasilia-paulo-tarso-flecha-de-lima-o-mais-importante-diplomata-do-nosso-tempo https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paulo_Tarso_Flecha_de_Lima
