| | As our brave military heroes and their K-9 counterparts make unimaginable sacrifices every day to keep us safe and free, it couldn't be more important to show them we have their backs. But with just one day left until our goal deadline for this exclusive match, you still haven't taken advantage of this opportunity to honor our K-9 teams and all of our service members: K-9 teams can spend their whole military careers together: One U.S. Army corporal has spent over six years with his trusted four-legged soldier and best friend, Pearl. They've grown and learned so much from each other, from initial deployments in Afghanistan to their current posting in Kosovo. Every K-9 relationship is built on training, trust, faith and sacrifice — values that all our military heroes share. And the least patriotic Americans can do for them is ensure they have all the support they need and deserve. You're one of our most dedicated military supporters, so we’re counting on YOU to step up right away and support our K-9 teams and our service members around the world: Please, rush a matched donation now to help ensure our K-9 heroes and all our brave heroes and all our brave heroes in uniform have the resources they need no matter what comes their way.** Thank you for helping us show our troops they're not forgotten. SVB collapses—and is ready for VC money again Silicon Valley Bank—which does business with nearly half of all U.S. venture-backed startups—collapsed. It’s the biggest bank failure since 2008, which has a lot of people in “the Bay” like totally freaking out. “You could feel the mania and the panic and the concern and the interest,” a nearby prof told NPR. SVB claimed to do business with 44% of U.S. venture-backed technology and healthcare IPOs. And that means a lot of people in tech are impacted. The bank lost $1.8B on a sale of U.S. treasuries, triggering a “run on the bank” and subsequent fed takeover. A newly appointed CEO already is urging VCs to bring their money back. Chat GPT 4.0 Can Color! ChatGPT is getting in touch with its creative side. The newly released 4.0 is in full color and carries a beat—that is, it incorporates images and music. OpenAI says it also produces “safer and more useful responses.” Bonus: Chat can now process up to 25k words at a time. (Note to teachers: increase those assignment lengths.) Like Madonna, Zuck wants you to express yourself Meta is scaling back its workforce even more as it steers to new AI waters. Since going all-in on the Metaverse in 2022—and losing $24B in the process—Meta has laid off thousands of employees, setting up a pivot to generative AI. The new project is called LLaMA: “large language model Meta AI.” While similar to ChatGPT, Zuck says his baby is more focused on using AI to build “creative and expressive tools.” (Quick! Close that tab!) Big Tech is watching When the world went all-remote during Covid, big companies went all Big Brother—deploying spy bots to track their employees’ every movement. This surveillance software is increasingly sophisticated, complete with eye tracing, biometric data collection, and an AI-driven cyber-boss (bully?) that reprimands you for spending too much time on Facebook. Microsoft goes negative in a good way Microsoft is pairing up with Running Tide to get to a “carbon-negative” footprint by 2030. Running Tide creates biodegradable buoys on which they intend to create kelp farms, reducing water acidity and absorbing CO2. They then sink to the ocean floor as algae. Though, there is some disagreement about the soundness of the science behind it. |

But how much does it pay? |
With all the fluctuations in the job market the last few years, it seems employees are looking to know a little bit more about the job they’re applying for before the interview. Nearly 3/4 of job listings in NYC, and 2/3 of listings in California now include pay information. |
