BREAKING: New investments in 2020 target states!

I want to explain the strategy behind the investments we just made in three critical target states. But first I have to ask if you can pitch in to help us invest in more states as the 2020 elections get closer.
New 2020 investments! Texas, North Carolina, Ohio
Here's the back story: In 2019, the Supreme Court's conservatives, including John Roberts and Brett Kavanaugh, ruled that federal courts cannot place limits on partisan gerrymandering. That disappointing decision meant that we have to go state by state to eradicate manipulated maps.

So that's our plan. We announced nine 2020 target states -- which have 142 U.S. House seats between them -- where electing Democrats will make a huge difference to a fair redistricting.
Here's the thing, though: Winning races in these states won't be easy, which is why we have to get involved early. I'm thrilled that with the help of supporters like you, we were able to make our first 2020 investments in Texas, North Carolina, and Ohio. These states have their legislative primaries in March, extending their general election period and making early resources even more important. Our investments will help Democrats hire staff on top-tier races, open offices, and pay for research.

But this can't be the end of it, Sula. If we want to beat Republicans and make redistricting fair, we have to invest a lot more money -- so we need you.

Will you make a donation to help us make more investments toward ending gerrymandering?

All On The Line

Time and again, from my days as an organizer in Chicago to my two terms as president, I've seen firsthand that individuals who are committed to grassroots organizing can be the most powerful catalysts for change in our communities and our country. That's why last year I encouraged so many of you to join the fight for fair maps -- because I knew that working to end gerrymandering and build a more representative democracy would be one of the most impactful things this grassroots movement could do.

As we approach the anniversary of launching All On The Line, I'm asking you to make your first donation.

Donate to the AOTL Community Organizing Fund to provide grassroots organizers with the resources necessary to win this fight. They've set a goal to recruit another 1,000 first time donors before wrapping up the first year of this campaign.

We know that gerrymandering systematically favors one party over another. Since 2011, manipulated maps have tipped the scales in congressional and state legislative districts across the country.

In 2021, we have a once-in-a-decade chance to make sure the rules of the road for our democracy are fair and that we have districts that truly represent the people. Since launching last year, All On The Line has already mobilized local staff on the ground in some of the most gerrymandered states in the country, trained hundreds of people at Redistricting U, and provided resources for volunteers in places like Texas and North Carolina where the fight for fair maps has already begun. I'm proud to see this movement continuing its legacy by making an impact in this fight.

But let me be clear, securing fair maps won't be easy -- it's going to take hard work every step of the way. And that means we'll need a lot of resources to fight back against politicians who want to manipulate the maps for their own benefit -- and fight for a democracy that truly represents everybody. We're leaning on the generosity of grassroots donors. I hope I can count on your support.

Thanks for being part of the All On The Line team,
Barack Obama
