When A.G. Holder helped launch our Anniversary Membership Drive, he said the maps will be put to the test during the midterm elections, but that they are far from being finalized.

He was right! We’re already seeing court decisions that allow maps in states like Alabama and Georgia to possibly be redrawn after the midterm elections in 2023.

This fight isn’t over -- so we decided our Anniversary Membership Drive shouldn’t be over yet either. A.G. Holder challenged 5,000 people to become a 2022 AOTL Member -- will you be one of them?

Subject: INTRODUCING: The AOTL Anniversary Membership Drive
Date: Wednesday, February 23, 2022

Friend -- This year, the next decade of our electoral districts will be put to the test during the midterm elections. But maps are far from being finalized.

Republican politicians have launched baseless legal challenges to fair maps, have passed manipulated maps, and are raising millions to help smooth their path to power.

We’re championing fair maps in two ways: By helping voters challenge gerrymandered maps in court while also defending fair maps from map manipulators.

I’ve helped launch the AOTL Anniversary Membership Drive to ensure we can finish strong this redistricting cycle.

If you haven't already become a member, join me in this fight by becoming a 2022 All On The Line Member:

I believe it’s absolutely necessary to be fully engaged during this final stage of the redistricting process.

After this year, most maps will be finalized. If we miss our window of opportunity, right-wing politicians will gerrymander maps and enact their extreme policies for at least a decade. And we would have to wait until the 2031 redistricting process to change course!

That’s why I’m calling for 5,000 AOTL supporters to step up right now and become a 2022 All On The Line Member. Your donation will help ensure we have the resources to fight map manipulators and hyper-partisan politicians attempting to gerrymander their way into power.

Will you be one of those 5,000 people, friend? I can’t tell you how much it would mean for your name to be on the list of 2022 All On The Line Members.

FIRST → Ohio was one of the first states where voters challenged gerrymandered maps and won.
THEN → The Ohio Supreme Court deemed multiple maps unconstitutional.
NOW → Republicans on the state’s redistricting commission adopted another set of gerrymandered legislative maps last week and just proposed a gerrymandered congressional map today.

Today, Republicans proposed a gerrymandered congressional map -- just days before the state's candidate filing deadline on Friday.

This gerrymandered map would manipulate district lines in an attempt to limit competition and dilute the voting power of communities of color.

This is the kind of map manipulation we’ve seen in states redrawing maps. As All On The Line supports voters around the country, will you donate to support our work?

Here’s a recap of three things we know Republicans on the Ohio Redistricting Commission are willing to do for gerrymandered maps ⬇️
❌ IGNORE constitutional redistricting reforms passed by voters
❌ DISREGARD deadlines and run out the clock
❌ REFUSE to work across the aisle by drawing maps behind closed doors and without any input from their Democratic colleagues

We cannot let map manipulation like this go unchecked! Make a donation to All On The Line right now to help fight for fair maps.

A new CNN opinion piece gets right to the point about gerrymandering:

Politicians are stripping Black voters of their voice in Congress: 'In states like Georgia and Louisiana, Black people make up about one-third of the population – but are crowded into far fewer congressional districts. Instead, growing Black and Latino neighborhoods have been sliced and diced... Pushing the horizon for multiracial democracy yet another decade down the road.'

Is Republicans’ attempt to squash the political power of Black voters extremely disturbing? Yes. Should you lose hope? NO! Because the NDRC is pushing hard to END Republican gerrymandering, and our strategy is working! (Help us keep it up >>)

★ The Washington Post reports that “Surprisingly, there has been a redistricting turnaround
★ Among recent fair-redistricting wins, voters in Pennsylvania and Minnesota are getting maps that reflect the makeup of those states!
★ Courts have sided with fair redistricting advocates in states like Ohio, Oregon, and more.
★ And our team continues to work in states around the country to block gerrymandering!

But we could really use your support – so please, will you pitch in right away to help us keep up this CRITICAL work?

“The fight for fair maps is not over. Even in states where maps were deemed final, voters have sent map drawers back to the drawing board.” -- President Obama

February was a wild month in redistricting news:
⚡ Voters helped overturn gerrymandered maps in Ohio and North Carolina
💥 Republicans in Ohio then gerrymandered legislative maps again AND AGAIN
‼️ Court decisions opened the possibility for map redraws in 2023 in states like Alabama

,Tthis is great news: the fair redistricting grassroots movement has successfully prevented gerrymandering in two swing states.

But our fight for fair maps isn't over – we still need to secure FAIR maps in states across the country. Will you chip in now to help us make it happen?

Donate for fair maps!

With the help of supporters like you, the NDRC has made great progress in the fight for fair districts. But the map manipulators aren’t going down easy. In fact, one headline said the GOP is actually considering “more ruthless redistricting” in the coming weeks.

That’s because Republicans are frustrated that their plans for gerrymandering are being thwarted, so now, they’re looking to double down in states that have yet to finalize their maps. As President Obama said, “The fight isn’t over yet,” so we must keep up the pressure to pass fair maps nationwide.

There’s a lot of work left to be done, and not a lot of time left to do it. So please, rush a contribution now to help us continue working to secure fair maps:

Did you see what President Obama and Attorney General Holder said about the NDRC and its affiliates’ work to end gerrymandering?
'The fight to restore fairness in our democracy won't be solved by any one map. But it's important to remember that every win and loss can have a real impact.' – President Barack Obama
'We’re fighting back … By helping voters challenge these gerrymandered maps in court while also defending fair maps from attacks.' – Attorney General Eric Holder
They’re right! Because of the fair maps movement, we’ve won victories for fair maps in states like Pennsylvania and Oregon
But we still have our work cut out for us in swing states like Ohio and Florida
Like President Obama said, every win – or loss – can have a real impact on securing the future of our democracy. So please, will you chip in now to help us win more victories in the fight for fair maps?

Sula – the bad news is that gerrymandering is leading to even more extremism among GOP politicians and candidates:

HuffPost: Suburban Gerrymandering Is Fueling The Republican Party’s Far-Right Radicalization; New York Times: ‘Blood Red’: How Lopsided New District Lines are Deepening America’s Divide
Don't let it happen!

The good news is that with your help, the NDRC is working to stop map manipulation. And our movement is winning!

But there's still a lot of work left, and the state of play could change at any time. That's why we have to ask: Can you make a donation today?

In the past few weeks alone, courts have ruled in favor of fair redistricting in states from Pennsylvania to North Carolina. BUT, Republicans are asking the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene – so our movement is fighting hard to protect those victories.

Similarly, our movement has helped prevent gerrymandering in states like Colorado, Oregon, and Minnesota. BUT, now Republicans are attempting even more ruthless map manipulation in other states!

So we have a ways to go. A.G. Holder said, “I’m asking you to stay in the fight with us.” Will you stay with us until the end, Sula?

“...The current redistricting cycle has turbocharged representational inequality in many states, largely those controlled by Republicans…” David Daley’s Op-Ed in CNN || Redistricting Expert
Help us end gerrymandering »

Sula -- A.G. Holder said the Supreme Court’s recent decision to allow 2022 elections to proceed under Alabama’s gerrymandered map is “an ideological abuse of the Court’s power and stands in the way of delivering Black voters the opportunity to elect candidates of their choice.”

We refuse to allow free and fair elections to crumble due to racial gerrymandering, Sula. This final phase of redistricting is our last chance to make a difference, or we’ll have to wait another decade!

As we enter an election season with widespread, court-sanctioned voter suppression and rampant racial gerrymandering, make a donation right now to support our movement!

Redistricting expert David Daley agrees with A.G. Holder. He said the Supreme Court’s recent decision in Alabama -- along with previous rulings like the gutting of the 1965 Voting Rights Act and its decision to not put guardrails on partisan gerrymandering -- are primary reasons how extreme politicians are able to succeed in their efforts of “stripping Black voters of their voice in Congress.”

In his CNN op-ed, Daley also cited a Washington Post report that found experts and judges are saying, “Black and Latino voters have been shortchanged in redistricting.”

All On The Line understands that this fight for fair maps is far from over. It’s why we trained tens of thousands of people about redistricting and are helping voters fight for fair maps in court.

Will you make a donation right now to help us finish STRONG this redistricting cycle? Your contribution is appreciated and will help power our plans for fair maps.
