Can I tell you the story of how I first got involved in politics, friend? While serving as the president of Nevada's largest synagogue, I was recruited to run in a competitive House race to help flip a red seat blue. Looking back, it's incredibly fitting that this was my entry point to public service – because my Judaism helps guide much of my work in the Senate today.   In fact, my decision to say "yes" and run for public office in the first place was guided by the Jewish principle of Tikkun Olam – which means to leave the world a better place than how we found it. Now, as the third Jewish woman and only former synagogue president in Senate history, I'm proud to serve Nevada and our country. And as we face everything from growing antisemitism to attacks on reproductive freedom to threats to tear down our very democracy, I'm as committed as ever to keep fighting to better this world and make positive change happen. But I need your help. BrazilCham NYC celebrates Simoni Moratto at William Lander welcome ceremony

This coming May 29th, Brazil Cham - Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce of New York will promote a special event at The Harvard Club, located in the Cambridge Room, at 35 West 44th Street, in New York. The event will consist of a lunch in honor of outgoing President Simoni Morato and also a warm welcome to President-elect William Landers.

 

Simoni Morato is President and CEO of Safra National Bank in New York and has served as President and President of the Board of the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce since 2020. William Landers, General Director of BTG Pactual, was elected to succeed Ms. . Morato as President and Chairman of the Council.

 

Furthermore, during the event, the Special Merit Award will be presented to Sergio Pereira, in recognition of his special support, advice and service provided to the Chamber, contributing to strengthening ties between Brazil and the United States. Mr. Pereira has been affiliated with the Chamber since 1979, having held various leadership positions over the years.

It will be a unique occasion to celebrate the legacy of the outgoing president, welcome the new elected president and recognize the exemplary work of Sergio Pereira.
