Latin American Cultural Week in NYC Event will bring a mixture of visual arts and performances from Brazil and other Latin American countries New York City, October 24 2016- From November 7–21, 2016, the Latin American culture will be in celebrated during the special group exhibition, Masters of Contemporary Latin America. This event is in conjunction with NYC’s Latin American Cultural Week and will be held at Saphira & Ventura Gallery, located at 4 W 43rd Street in New York City. The exhibition is part of the 11th Annual Latin American Cultural Week organized by PAMAR and taking placing in several venues in New York City from November 3–13, 2016. MASTERS OF CONTEMPORARY LATIN AMERICA will display artworks by Hispanic and Brazilian artists along with a special tribute to Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera with exhibition of original works, which are part of Saphira & Ventura Gallery’s collection. It will be a special night featuring music by Mezzo-Soprano Melania Maldonado. Hispanic and Brazilian artists living in the city and abroad will display paintings, sculptures,and photographs that showcase the diversity and richness of Latin American heritage. The artists participating in the show are: Acácio Pereira, Antonio Spinosa, Amaro, Miguel Santana, Cassandra Forte, Jennifer Court, Jo Kawamura, Massimo Cedrini, Sankhya Jejurikar, Rahmel Garner, Eric Henty, David Weiner, Patricia Figueiredo,Neil Kerman,Lois Sattler, Luzia Castaneda, Roseanne Potter, Sharron Parker, Alice Lipping and Odair Mindelo. The exhibition is curated by Alcinda Saphira with assistance of Ana Castro, and produced by Katie Harnett, Albert Valente, Nicholas Spinozzi, and Cornelia Zhang. Reunindo um conjunto de aproximadamente nove telas e texto do curador Mario Gioia, a série 'Pareidolia" desloca-se da colagem e figuração que permeam sua pesquisa anterior, à jogos pictóricos que se desdobram em novas construções espaciais, envolvendo projeções, vontades, pulsões, ressignificações. Lee segue sua trajetória como artista de ateliê, onde o embate com a materialidade, o tempo, o ritmo, a técnica, o gesto e as potências inerentes à cada material, trazem novas possibilidades e rupturas. Desde sua última série, vêm diluindo, aquarelando e estilhaçando seus elementos de investigação. Sobre a tela, o incomum da mistura dos materiais como a permanência e a densidade do óleo, o negro traço que evoca o grafite do desenho, a maleabilidade da acrílica, por exemplo, contribuindo para que os panoramas fragmentados ganhem uma coerência interna, ressaltando a especificidade de cada um desses ‘assuntos’ pictóricos.  Antonio Lee, São Paulo, SP, 1981. Artista plástico, estudou na Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado, SP, Brasil. Denise began studying guitar at age 10 and attended Julia Pardini’s Choral Association. Four years later, in 1986, she was invited to take part in a European tour. As her musical career progressed, she found widespread acclaim and encouragement from the Brazilian people and media. This success was due in part to Denise’s remarkable ability to impeccably imitate the sound of the trumpet using only her lips and voice. Her album Alfândega, launched in 2007, debuts many of her own compositions and features musical production by Denise herself, Marcelo Nami and acclaimed percussionist Marcos Suzano. During the last few years, Denise has been invited to tour in various countries including Senegal, Ukraine, Venezuela, Portugal, and Israel, where she had the privilege of working with some of the world’s most famous and talented international artists. In 2009 Denise was honored with an invitation to compose a song and perform for His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in Albany, NY. She has performed in other New York venues; such as City Winery, Drom, Cafe Wha?, Joes Pub, Rockwood Music Hall and 55 Bar. She has also performed in Philadelphia, Baltimore and Boston. Her show is very elegant, with Brazilian elements and jazz harmoniously blended, singing hits and brand new songs from both countries, Brazil and the USA. Denise amazes and delights audiences from around the world with her warmth, unique artistic expression and exquisite musicality. Her music, rich with emotion and Latin-American textures, speaks to the human ear and heart, allowing concertgoers and listeners to experience commonalities of human experience transcending all cultural barriers. Through her music Denise strives to bring the harmony, warmth and joy embodied by Brazilian culture to the world.
