Voting empowerment funding will be essential to protecting our democratic process this November. But that funding needs to be passed NOW so local governments can invest in expanding vote-by-mail and making in-person voting safer.

The HEROES Act, passed by the House more than two months ago, allocated $3.6 billion to election protection funding -- but Mitch McConnell has been running out the clock on Senate approval.

With the election less than four months away, we need to make sure the Senate fully funds election protection so no one will be forced to choose between their health and their vote. Congress is in session this week. Contact your senators and demand action.

Allowing election protection efforts to go underfunded during a pandemic is voter suppression. Plain and simple. The funding in the HEROES Act would help make our elections more safe, fair, and accessible. But the Senate is in danger of not passing that funding -- we have to hold them accountable.

It's no surprise we're seeing this kind of gamesmanship from Mitch McConnell in the Senate. He knows that if he can suppress the vote in 2020, it'll give map manipulators a clearer path to gerrymander in 2021.

We've joined a coalition-wide effort to fight for election protection funding this week -- and today is our day to flood Congress with calls, emails, and tweets demanding action. We set a goal for All On The Line supporters to contact Congress 5,000 times today.

Seven years ago, the Supreme Court gutted a key provision of the Voting Rights Act that had required certain states and jurisdictions with a history of voting discrimination to seek federal approval before changing any voting laws. The Shelby County decision unleashed a sudden and persistent wave of restrictive voting laws in states across the country and, unsurprisingly, has had a disproportionate impact on communities of color who have historically faced additional and unnecessary barriers to casting their ballots.
