All On The Line
Demand election protection funding »

Voting empowerment funding will be essential to protecting our democratic process this November. But that funding needs to be passed NOW so local governments can invest in expanding vote-by-mail and making in-person voting safer.

The HEROES Act, passed by the House more than two months ago, allocated $3.6 billion to election protection funding -- but Mitch McConnell has been running out the clock on Senate approval.

With the election less than four months away, we need to make sure the Senate fully funds election protection so no one will be forced to choose between their health and their vote. Congress is in session this week. Contact your senators and demand action.
Allowing election protection efforts to go underfunded during a pandemic is voter suppression. Plain and simple. The funding in the HEROES Act would help make our elections more safe, fair, and accessible. But the Senate is in danger of not passing that funding -- we have to hold them accountable.

It's no surprise we're seeing this kind of gamesmanship from Mitch McConnell in the Senate. He knows that if he can suppress the vote in 2020, it'll give map manipulators a clearer path to gerrymander in 2021.

We've joined a coalition-wide effort to fight for election protection funding this week -- and today is our day to flood Congress with calls, emails, and tweets demanding action. We set a goal for All On The Line supporters to contact Congress 5,000 times today.

Take action! Contact your senators now to be one of the 100 people we need from New York to reach our goal and fight for fair, safe voting!

Webinar Series - COVID 19 Next Steps No. 5 - Luxury or Necessity? Corporate Diversity and Inclusion at a Time of Crisis: Views from Brazilian General Counsels
Thursday, July 23rd
2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
At a time of great uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and fractious politics in Brazil, the United States and elsewhere, companies have had to navigate public health and societal crises simultaneously. Fortunately, corporate commitments to diversity and inclusion (D&I) initiatives have in many cases proven encouragingly resilient and robust in recent months. Many companies have used D&I programs and tools to foster greater collaboration and connectivity among workforces physically separated by social distancing guidelines and work-from-home policies. There has also been a notable expansion of external-facing marketing campaigns and community engagement to ensure continuity in customer relationships – and to use the current crisis as a time to reflect, and in some cases, rebrand. These D&I initiatives may prove to be a true silver lining to the deep disruptions caused by the economic crisis triggered by pandemic alongside the ongoing soul-searching inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement, the continued gender pay/opportunity gap, and recent advances in fighting LGBTQ+ discrimination. The panel of prominent leaders in the Brazilian-American legal community will discuss navigating corporate responses to the pandemic across multiple sectors of the economy, at a time of renewed internal and external focus on issues of diversity and inclusion.

We launched this day of action because Mitch McConnell is expected to release the Senate version of the HEROES Act this week. And as a co-conspirator of voter suppression, we suspect his bill will drastically cut election protection funding as compared to the House bill. Your senators need to hear from constituents NOW!

Call your senators and tell them to pass the HEROES Act

These protections will not only help ensure the integrity of the election in November -- but also the redistricting process in 2021. Underfunded election administration during a pandemic could cause widespread voter suppression. And map manipulators know that disenfranchising voters will only help them -- and negatively impact our ability to secure fair maps.

We set a goal of contacting Congress 5,000 times today -- we're on track to do it, but we need 38 people from New York to take action. Ask your senator to commit to supporting voter empowerment funding in the HEROES Act.

RSVP: Join A.G. Holder at a virtual event on voting rights!

Voting rights are civil rights and -- we fight for civil rights.

Seven years ago, the Supreme Court gutted a key provision of the Voting Rights Act that had required certain states and jurisdictions with a history of voting discrimination to seek federal approval before changing any voting laws.

The Shelby County decision unleashed a sudden and persistent wave of restrictive voting laws in states across the country and, unsurprisingly, has had a disproportionate impact on communities of color who have historically faced additional and unnecessary barriers to casting their ballots. As Justice Ginsburg wrote in dissent of the decision, removing the preclearance requirement was like throwing away your umbrella in the middle of a rainstorm because you're not getting wet.

Tomorrow, Thursday, June 25 at 12pm ET, you'll have the opportunity to join A.G. Holder, as well the president of Let America Vote, Tiffany Muller, and our president, Kelly Burton, for an hour-long discussion on the consequences of the Shelby County decision on voting rights. They'll break down the impact of the Court's reckless ruling and provide the roadmap to how we are fighting back to restore voting rights to everyone.

Register for Thursday's virtual event "Seven Years Under Shelby: A Conversation on Voting Rights" here! After you RSVP. you will receive a link to tune into the online discussion that begins at 12pm ET.

NDRC AND LET AMERICA VOTE LAUNCH $500,000 CAMPAIGN TO HOLD MCCONNELL ACCOUNTABLE FOR OBSTRUCTING ELECTION FUNDING

Your donations fund campaigns like this.
And today your gift is doubled >>

It’s no surprise that Mitch McConnell is holding up the $3.6 billion in election infrastructure funding in the HEROES Act, which passed the House over two months ago. He knows that if he can suppress the 2020 vote, he’ll clear the way for Republicans to manipulate the maps again in 2021.

So just this morning, the NDRC and Let America Vote announced a new campaign to pressure the Senate to fund fair and safe elections in November!

Now we have an incredible opportunity to double our impact, and we can’t let it slip away:
All donations MATCHED before Tuesday's deadline -- if we hit our $50,000 goal! DONATE NOW >>>
The NDRC community has already achieved so much, from winning elections in key states to building a massive nationwide movement. But whether we can protect the right to vote and end gerrymandering for good will depend on what happens in the next three-and-a-half months.

Sula, will you make a donation and help us UNLOCK THE MATCH so that your gift will be DOUBLED? Help us raise a total of $100,000 to make the biggest possible impact on Election Day!
