Glória Maria ‘s  footsteps!  Tácito Cury has more than 150 countries visited on his 11 passports.

Actor and businessman has visited more than 3,000 cities around the world Tácito Cury, at just 17 years old, decided to change his life and leaving the East Zone of São Paulo, embarked on a journey, alone, to the United States.

The search for a better life and the desire to learn a new language were so successful that, currently, he has visited more than 3,000 cities.

Restless, energetic, curious and willing to break barriers, the actor and businessman started working hard in the United States, washing dishes, being a waiter and saving every penny to pay rent, bills and study English.

With the dream of seeing the world, he was inspired by the late Glória Maria, an icon of Brazilian journalism, and set his goal to have his own collection of stamped passports. But to do so, some more savings were needed.

Striving, he grew up in the job market in New York, where he moved as a teenager, kick-starting his career as a body and soul traveler.

soul. “My friends actually joke calling me ‘Glória Maria’ [laughs]. However, to achieve this, I need to work very hard. I grabbed every opportunity I got

to make this dream come true. Nothing is impossible! The important thing is that you believe in yourself because your dreams need you!”, says the businessman.

Tácito has been to Egypt, Thailand, walked around Europe, toured Brazil, visited paradisiacal islands. The world became his home! “There’s nothing better than being in contact with other cultures, having new experiences”, he points out.

Between one airlift and another, he was even in a very peculiar place, immortalized by Glória Maria in the vast collection of internet memes: a hole in Vietnam!“I can say that I ‘inaugurated’ this passage. I was there before the pioneer [laughs].

That’s what traveling is all about, being willing to see everything and more, having adventures,” he says.

About Tacito Cury

Determined, Tácito Cury left the outskirts of the East Zone of São Paulo to live the “American dream”. Working hard and even going through unimaginable moments, such as surviving the attack on the Twin Towers in September 2001, he earned, with great effort, his first university degree in International Business, in New York.

Since then, there have been a few more specializations, such as International Relations and Diplomacy, an MBA in Digital Marketing and the most recent training in Chef and Pâtisserie at Le Cordon Bleu.

He founded three schools in New York that later formed the basis for iTTi (International Testing and Training Institute), a global company founded by him, operating in several countries, whose objective is to train people to teach English and carry out voluntary work in underserved communities across the globe.

The New Districts: Advancing Fair Representation
A landmark achievement has been reached for fair representation, not only for Black Alabamians but for equitable maps across the nation. A federal panel has replaced the previous gerrymandered map, which failed to provide an equal political opportunity for Black Alabamians. This new map opens the door to the possibility of two Black Members of Congress representing the state simultaneously for the first time in history. The revised map creates two congressional districts that will allow Black voters the opportunity to elect their candidates of choice while avoiding additional county splits, ensuring all 18 Black Belt counties are included in one of the two opportunity districts.

Our Shape of Things series raises awareness about the barriers to fair representation for communities throughout the country. It provides an opportunity to support our fight for their representation. Will you support All On The Line with a recurring donation of any amount to support our work to advocate for fair maps in places like Alabama and other target states?

What’s Next? Upholding Fair Representation
The recent adoption of this new map signifies the culmination of Alabama's remedial process following the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark decision in Allen v. Milligan, upholding Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act. It underscored the necessity for two districts where Black voters could elect their candidates of choice, a principle reaffirmed by both the district and Supreme Court. Throughout the years of litigation, the National Redistricting Foundation (NRF), an affiliate of All On The Line, played a pivotal role in ensuring the rights of Black Alabamians were upheld.

"One year from now, those same Black voters in Alabama, who comprise more than a quarter of the state’s population, will finally have the opportunity to elect the candidate of their choice across two congressional districts. That is progress."
Marina Jenkins, Executive Director

Empowering Voters: The Importance of The New Map
Alabama now boasts a fairer congressional map. This court-adopted map could see two Black Members of Congress from Alabama serve simultaneously, marking an unprecedented stride towards fair representation. The ripple effect extends beyond Alabama; it's a testament to justice and a stark warning against any attempt to deny fair representation.

To continue to protect fairness for Black Alabamians and voters of color across the country, we must take action now to help All On The Line advocate for fair maps. Our organization is working tirelessly to ensure voters in states like Alabama and nationwide are supported by a grassroots-driven movement to restore our democracy. Can you help our efforts across the nation by rushing a monthly donation today?
