Florida is a testing ground for MAGA’s most extreme policies and dangerous ideas – including what has been described as the “torturous” Alligator Alcatraz detention center.

We’re reaching out because Democrats are facing two special elections for seats in Florida’s legislature on September 2nd. This is a prime opportunity to deal a major blow to Trump, DeSantis, and far-right Republicans in a MAGA stronghold.

Will you chip in $7? Your donation goes directly towards electing state Democrats across the country fighting to block extreme GOP schemes like Alligator Alcatraz.

Our team has identified the cycle’s best and most consequential opportunities to build durable Democratic power in state legislatures, and I’m so excited to share our target map with you:

Graphic: Target Map

This map is ambitious, strategic, and forward-focused. To meet our goals and fund the mission-critical investments this work depends on, we'll need the full strength of this grassroots team. Can I count on you to own a piece of this fight and chip in $7 to help set our strategy into motion?

To optimize our budget and make strategic investments, we’ve divided our target states into three categories:

🚨 Battlegrounds: Our most competitive chambers where majorities are determined by the slimmest of margins, including five chambers where majorities are decided by a single seat.

💪 Power Building Chambers: Our best opportunities to gain seats on our path to new majorities or defend the veto pens of Democratic governors.

👀 Watch List: Our team is tracking opportunities to maximize state legislative power and block the GOP’s agenda when possible.

We’re ready to hit the ground running – but this strategy is only as strong as the grassroots movement behind it. So, on behalf of my entire team and state Democrats nationwide, I’m asking: Will you invest in our movement with a gift of $7, $25, or more today?

State Dems are working daily to lower costs, address real concerns, and improve the everyday lives of folks like you in places like your state. That’s why it’s vital that we fund our strategy to defend our majorities, elect strong Democratic leaders, and invest in ultra-competitive races nationwide. Thank you for being part of this movement.

Together,

Heather

Launch of the BDO Jaraguá Theater with a Special Show by Ney Matogrosso

Today, São Paulo' city  hosted a landmark event: the launch of the BDO Jaraguá Theater, held at the iconic Jaraguá Hotel, located in the heart of the city center from São Paulo. Considered a true symbol of São Paulo's history and culture, this hotel celebrated its 71st anniversary, hosting world-renowned names such as Queen Elizabeth II, Gina Lollobrigida, the Italian diva of the 1950s and 1960s, Edith Piaf, Janio Quadros, Marta Rocha, and other icons from different eras.

The Hotel Jaraguá is a true piece of history, with its giant panels and works by great artists such as Di Cavalcanti and Clóvis Graciano adorning its walls, bringing even more charm and meaning to today's event. The partnership between Brazil and culture, represented by the BDO Jaraguá Theater, was born from the visionary Raul Correia da Silva, president of BDO and director of culture at Esporte Clube Corinthians. Raul is ahead of his time, passionate about Brazilian popular music (MPB) and promoting initiatives that value national culture.

The theater's launch was celebrated with a unique performance by Ney Mato Grosso and piano, a unique moment that featured special guests such as Zeca Baleiro, Maria Fernanda Cândido, Rita Cadillac, actor Cássio Scapin, and Nino do Castelo (Castelo Rá-Tim-Bum), gallery owner Verinha Havir, and Edinho Oliveira (Viva o Centro). The occasion reinforces the commitment to transforming downtown São Paulo into a vibrant cultural, social, and artistic hub, contributing to the cultural evolution of the heart of the city.

The BDO Jaraguá Theater is more than a new performance venue; it is a symbol of resilience, innovation, and hope in a downtown area pulsating with new cultural energies. This milestone demonstrates that initiatives like this are driving a true revitalization of downtown São Paulo, once again making it a space for artistic expression, history, and social interaction. Long live downtown, long live Brazilian culture!
