I'll be real with you – I know a lot of people are tired of politics. After four years of Trump, and then the horror of the January 6 attack, I understand the desire to just tune out. But frankly, that's exactly what Republicans are hoping we do.
If we tune out, they'll get away with their gerrymandering and voter suppression. If we tune out, there's nobody to hold them accountable. If we tune out, there's a much greater chance they'll successfully mess with the 2022 elections, and then the 2024 elections.
I'm begging you, please don't tune out. Please keep reading these emails, keep staying informed, and if you can, please pitch in toward the NDRC's mid-month goal to help us keep fighting Republican gerrymandering and voter suppression.
As the NDRC's Director of Campaigns, I see it firsthand: Engagement from people like you makes a difference. It's how our movement has been able to help secure redistricting reforms and fairer maps across the country – for the first time ever, a plurality of congressional seats are being drawn by redistricting commissions instead of legislatures under one-party control.

This isn't good, Sula.
Here's the deal: Before redistricting kicked off, experts predicted that Republicans would dominate the process by manipulating the maps just like they did in 2011. But thanks in part to our work, that's not what happened – and instead, we saw headlines like "There has been a redistricting turnaround" (Washington Post) and "Democrats make surprising inroads in redistricting fight" (AP).
Now, the situation could flip again – unless we fight back right now. Will you pitch in toward our mid-month goal? Here are some of the threats we're facing: - Republicans in Florida, Missouri, and New Hampshire are still trying to get the most gerrymandered maps they possibly can (and Florida alone has 28 congressional seats!)
- While many lower courts have struck down the GOP's manipulated maps, the Supreme Court has reversed some of those wins.
- And with the midterm elections coming up, Republicans are going all-in on reelecting gerrymandering politicians and stacking courts with pro-manipulation judges.
