Yasmin Sings Bossa Nova in Tribute to the Greatest Celebrities

Young and dreamer, Yasmin has an unusual history with music. Although her family had no musical aptitude for samba, they did not consider it culturally educated to listen to this musical segment.
However, 2022 has surprises in store for the singer who celebrates the biggest step of her life. Thus, an unprecedented performance with: Yasmin sings Bossa Nova in a Tribute to the Greatest Celebrities. Finally, the event will take place on Rua Ver. Herminio Gervásio, 139 – Cabeçudas, Itajaí – SC, 88306-549, this coming May (21/05/2022) from 16 pm.

This could be a problem, Sula:

ABC News: 'Elections in limbo as redistricting litigation drags on' -- Fight for fair redistricting

By insisting on hanging on to their manipulated maps – or even expanding their 2011 gerrymanders – Republicans in places like Florida, Missouri, and Ohio are throwing their states' primary elections into chaos. Take Ohio for example:

"Early voting for Ohio's May 3 primary starts in less than a week, and Election Day is just five weeks away. Yet the state's congressional and legislative maps are still being litigated, leaving the approaching election in limbo."

The Ohio Supreme Court has struck down the GOP's manipulated state legislative maps three times, but Republicans recently submitted a fourth, almost identical map. It's clearly a ploy to run out the clock and force elections to be held on gerrymandered maps!

The NDRC and our affiliates are fighting back by supporting voters who challenge these maps in court, holding gerrymandering Republicans accountable, and educating the public about what's going on. We urgently need your help to keep up this critical work across the country – will you chip in?

It's ridiculous how far the GOP is willing to go for maps that give them an unfair advantage. But as long as they keep doing it, you can count on us to be there to rein them in.

Thanks for your help, Sula.

Tribute to H.E. Eduardo Refinetti Guardia

(January 19, 1966 – April 11, 2022)

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce, Inc., we regretfully inform you of the passing, on April 11, 2022 at the age of 56, of Eduardo Refinetti Guardia, Partner of BTG Pactual (2019-22), former Minister of Finance of Brazil (2018), and longtime supporter of the Chamber.  Mr. Guardia participated in many Chamber programs and, as Minister of Finance, delivered the keynote address at the Chamber’s 2018 Brazil Summit.

With a Ph.D. in Economics from Universidade de São Paulo, Mr. Guardia began his career as a teacher at Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo.  In the 1990s / 2000s, he served as Secretary of Finance of the Government of the State of São Paulo.  He also held the positions of Head of the Economic Advisory to the Deputy Secretary of the Secretariat of Finance; Advisor to the Secretary of Planning; and Researcher of the Fiscal Area of the Public Sector Economics Institute of the Foundation for Administrative Development (IESP / FUNDAP) of São Paulo.

In early 2002, Mr. Guardia was appointed Assistant Secretary of the National Treasury and, in May of that year, was appointed Secretary.  He also served as Assistant Secretary for Economic Policy at the Ministry of Finance; Assistant Secretary for the Secretariat for Economic Policy; and Advisor to the Minister of Planning.

From 2010-16, Mr. Guardia served as Executive Director of B3 Products (formerly BM&FBOVESPA).  In June 2016, he was appointed Executive Secretary for Finance (2016-18).  He also assumed the role of Chairman of Banco do Brasil, a position he held until 2017.

Mr. Guardia was known for his rigidity in expenditure control and fiscal adjustment policies to enable reform.  He was a key backer of Brazil’s pension reform bill (passed in 2019), seen by investors as a massive step up in putting Brazil’s public accounts on a sustainable path.

At BTG, he was responsible for the bank’s asset management unit.  He helped implement a strategy for BTG to purchase minority stakes in other asset management firms, and helped expand BTG’s asset management products into alternative assets.

More information on Mr. Guardia’s life and career can be found below.

Sula -- As an organization focused on fair redistricting, we think about maps a lot. So I wanted to share a map produced by our team that I particularly appreciate. This type of work would not be possible without donations from supporters like you.

States where we or our affiliates are currently supporting voters in court to fight for fair maps.
Alabama Georgia  Kansas Florida New Hampshire North Carolina Louisiana Missouri Ohio Texas
Chip in to help us block gerrymandering in and out of court. CHIP IN NOW

These are all states where voters are actively challenging gerrymandered maps in court and demanding fair maps for their states and for meaningful political representation. Many of these cases are made possible with our support or that of our affiliates.

This type of work, and everything we’ve done to advance fair redistricting in these states, has been possible because of the grassroots investments from supporters like you. And I deeply appreciate the role you’ve played.

How the story unfolds in some of these states will be critical to outcomes in this year’s midterm elections and will have far-reaching consequences on our democracy for the next decade.

Politicians who are defending their gerrymandering are resorting to bizarre legal theories that could erode our system of federalism and further weaken the Voting Rights Act.

We must fight back against these threats to our democracy, and our plan will have to be powered by grassroots support.

The last time I emailed you, over 250 supporters stepped up with a contribution. I deeply appreciate that level of support. Will you consider being one of 250 donors to help us sustain that same level of investment today?

She began her career in the arts with painting on porcelain and ceramics, and was soon driven to put her ideas on canvas, thus beginning her career as an artist. The fascination of the doors and windows seen in Paraty, later found in Portugal and cities like Paris, Prague, Vienna brought the inspiration for his collection “Portas e Janelas”.
