THE WASHINGTON POST: “Biden to Create New Office of Gun Violence Prevention”
This is a massive win for our youth-led movement to end gun violence across the country.
Alongside young activists, organizers, and leaders like The Collective PAC, I’m proud to have fought for the creation of a federal office of gun violence prevention.
Ending gun violence has been at the forefront of my campaign. It’s what called me to action — both as the National Organizing Director for March for our Lives and as the first of my generation to be elected to Congress.
My generation has been demanding action. And today, we have real, tangible progress in this fight. Not incremental progress, but a massive push forward.

They said a young organizer wouldn’t stand a chance against the gun lobby and the NRA-bought Republicans in Congress.
And when I introduced my first bill in Congress to establish a federal office of gun violence prevention, Republicans thought they succeeded in blocking it.
But I never gave up, and neither did The Collective PAC. Now, the Biden Administration is taking action. Our collective power made this happen. This is proof that our youth-powered movement is unstoppable. And we’re just getting started.
So today, we celebrate this win in the fight to end gun violence. Tomorrow, we keep fighting. We keep organizing. We keep making noise. But it’s going to be an uphill battle against major forces that will stop at nothing to crush our progress. That’s why The Collective PAC and I are counting on you to keep our movement strong — both on the ground and in Congress.

The Collective PAC is strategically focused on creating a truly equitable democracy where our nation’s local, state and federal governments have diverse and talented elected leadership and Black people are fully represented in positions of power to create the policies necessary to progress our communities forward. Since our inception in 2016, we have helped 110 candidates win general elections at the local, state and federal levels. We strive to support the next wave of progressive and unapologetic Black candidates who will usher in a sea of change in our political system while helping America fulfill its promise of democracy by creating a government that will truly be for the people and of the people.
We’ve got four days to raise $70,000. That’s four days to raise the funds that will help us…
📣 Elevate our messaging 🗳️ Mobilize voters 📋 Train volunteers 💰 Invest in competitive races ...and so much more.
We can’t afford to fall short. We have nearly a dozen special elections on the books and Republicans are pouring millions into Virginia to cement a far-right trifecta. The GOP is looking for any sign of weakness in our party ahead of these all-important elections, and missing our fundraising goal would play right into their hands.
It’s crucial that we elect Democrats who will fight for our progressive agenda and stand up to Republicans' right-wing platform in statehouses nationwide. But if we fall short of our end-of-quarter deadline, we won’t have the resources in place to compete against our extreme opponents and win. So we’re calling on you today:

Black women in politics are under attack.
Across the country, lawmakers, prosecutors, and judges are being burdened with an onslaught of racist and misogynistic attacks.
Right now, we’re seeing extremists like Trump, DeSantis, and Jim Jordan go after Black women like Fani Willis and Monique Worrell for doing their job and going after those who break the law.
And in North Carolina, a state judicial commission is attempting to restrict the First Amendment rights of Supreme Court Justice Anita Earls for daring to point out the clear racial bias in the state judiciary.
The Collective PAC is strategically focused on creating a truly equitable democracy where our nation’s local, state and federal governments have diverse and talented elected leadership and Black people are fully represented in positions of power to create the policies necessary to progress our communities forward. Since our inception in 2016, we have helped 110 candidates win general elections at the local, state and federal levels. , the Duke of Sussex, Surprises Our Heroes in San Diego
Service members from the Navy Wounded Warrior Program in San Diego had the chance to attend an advance screening of the new Netflix docuseries Heart of Invictus.
“It was such an honor to sit with the population we serve and watch Heart of Invictus together,” said Marcus Pace, Veteran and Regional Program Director of the Navy Wounded Warrior Program, Navy Region Southwest. “It gave us moments of hope, especially knowing many of them are in some of the most difficult times of their lives. But more than anything, it was an evening about community for our wounded warriors and being around other service members going through the same thing.”
As a surprise for our service members, Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, popped in to watch with the audience!

Harris Teeter's 2023 Support Our Troops Campaign Boosts USO
The partnership between USO and Harris Teeter continued this summer as associates and shoppers generously contribute to the 11th annual Support Our Troops Round Up Campaign. The campaign raised $1.2 million at the registers, bringing the total to over $13.6 million since 2012. These funds will promote critical USO programs within shoppers’ local military communities. Harris Teeter associates kicked off the campaign by assembling 2,500 USO care packs for service members at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

"The USO Reading Program has really helped me stay connected with my family while overseas. Given their ages, now is a particularly important time for [my kids] with literacy. The USO Reading Program has helped me feel like I’m doing everything I can to help them out while I am deployed. I am very much looking forward to reading the books once I’m home — with any luck, I’ll be home in time for both of their birthdays."
